 | Princess Alexandra at Al-Ittihad, Aden, Yemen, December 1961 Princess Alexandra, cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, visits the new federal capital of Al-Ittihad, Aden, South Arabia on the 7th December 1961. Al-Ittihad (meaning Unity) was founded in 1959 as the capital of the Protectorate of South Arabia under British rule, and renamed Madinat ash-Sha'b after Yemen was founded in 1967.
