Main articles: Jak (Jak and Daxter)
Jak is the main playable character of the ''Jak and Daxter'' series. He and his companion Daxter have starred in a total of four games together. In '', he is 19. It is debated amoung gamers whether or not Jak is also the Legendary Mar. Nobody knows what happened to Jak's mother. Jak's father is the Great King Damas because before Damas dies he says that his son Mar is wearing the Seal of Mar around his neck which is what Jak's younger version was wearing. Jak doesn't remember being in Haven City.
The three Precursors said to Jak, in the end, that he was the greatest of all heroes. Basiclly giving him wonderful credit on how well he has done.
Daxter
| English voice actor | French voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|---|
| Max Casella | Xavier Fagnon | Teiyū Ichiryūsai |
Main articles: Daxter
'Daxter' is an Ottsel who sticks with Jak through thick and thin. Throughout the first three games, Daxter was considered to be the "sidekick" of the series until he proved himself a hero at the end of Jak 3, with a snazzy pair of pants to boot. Daxter is sometimes mistreated by some others, including Jak, but Daxter manages to find peace with Tess, his one true love. Of course, Jak would really be nothing without Daxter, for when Jak was imprisoned in Haven City, Daxter manages to rescue him (as seen in Daxter's PSP game). Many people also consider Daxter to be the real hero of the franchise. And that concept may very well be true.
Keira Hagai
| English voice actor | French voice actor | German voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anna Garduño(''Jak and Daxter'' and ''Jak II'') Tara Strong (''Jak 3'' and ''Jak X'') | Sophie Arthuys | Sylvia Steiner (actor) | Kyoko Hikami |
'Keira' is very good at mechanics and was originally Jak's love interest in the first, second, and fourth games. In the first game, she is the sassy and smart daughter of Samos Hagai, the Green Sage. In ''Jak II'' she is a racing mechanic at the Mar Memorial Stadium. Hidden behind a curtain, Jak and Daxter are not aware that Krew's racing client is their good friend Keira. After they finally reunite, she is initially put off by the drastic change in Jak's personality since she last saw him, causing tension between the two. However, by the game's end, they are back together, she apparently having come to terms with his changes. Her role in ''Jak 3'' is much smaller, being only in a few scenes.
However, at the end of the fourth game, '', she reasserts her position . In the end scene, as she and Jak go to kiss each other, Daxter interrupts with the traditional "Hey!" that he has used to interrupt their kiss at the end of ''Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy'' and ''Jak II''. However, when they glare at him, he says, "Will you kiss her already?" They then proceed to do exactly that in what Daxter calls "a photo finish".
Keira is credited with creating the Zoomer from her earlier creation of the A-Grav zoomer.
In '', Keira is 18 years old.
Samos Hagai / Sage: Green
| English voice actor | French voice actor | German voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warren Burton | Marc Alfos | Michael Lucke | IchirÅ Nagai |
'Samos' is the Green Sage and a key figure in the Freedom League. Born in Haven City many years ago, he led the Underground movement against Baron Praxis while going under the alias of "The Shadow." When the Metal Heads attacked Haven City several years prior to Praxis' death, only Samos was able to keep them from taking over the entire city; instead, only Dead Town was destroyed. Samos looked after the Kid, the younger version of Jak, alongside Kor, believing him to be the lost heir to the city. When Mar's tomb was discovered by Jak, Samos, along with Tess and Kor, was thrown into the Fortress' jail, where he met his older version, who had come from 500 years in the past through a Rift Gate along with Jak, Daxter, and Keira. The two Samoses often bickered, and Jak and Daxter eventually bring young Samos the Life Seed, a seed that was stored in Samos' hut in Dead Town for years. After receiving the seed, Samos becomes sagely and develops the ability to speak to the plants. So actually, it was Jak and Daxter who helped Samos become the Green Sage, and Daxter, after learning this, says to older Samos, "...and you never thanked us?!", to which an annoyed older Samos says, "Thank you, Daxter". At long last, when Kor was finally defeated, the young Samos realized that he had to take young Jak back in time a bit more than five hundred years to look over him, so that Jak could eventually come back to the future and defeat Kor, allowing the time cycle to continue. Keira is very close to her father.
In the past, the young Samos became the Green Sage and watched over Jak in Sandover Village. He also fathered Keira, though her mother is unknown. After many adventures, Jak discovered the Rift Gate that would eventually take him, Daxter, Samos, and Keira into the future again, back to Haven City. Upon arriving in the city, he is thrown into prison and eventually meets his younger version. After making sure his younger self becomes sagely and that he and the kid travel back in time to Sandover Village, he continues to watch over Jak. Oddly enough Samos(the old one) never remembers going back in time with little Jak or remembers becoming the Shadow.
In ''Jak 3'', he is a key member of the Freedom League who is more concerned with the mystery of the Dark Makers and Erol's return than with the war. After meeting the Precursors in person, he is embarrassed to see they are simply ottsels, and that he spent his entire life searching for them. In '', he just gives wisdom to Jak and Daxter.
In the PSP game, ''Daxter'' he voices the prologue and stated that "as great as Jak was he would never have achieved what he did without his faithful, yet often forgotten, companion, Daxter." This is also ironically one of the only nice things he's ever said about him, though a few sentences later he ends up calling him a "wisecracking obnoxious nincompoop".
Other characters
Ashelin Praxis
| English voice actor | German voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|---|
| Susan Eisenberg | Susanne Grawe | Yu Asakawa |
'Ashelin' is the sassy, tough-as-nails daughter of the deceased Baron Praxis and she was once a leader in the Krimzon Guard along with Erol in ''Jak II''. Although she fought alongside the Krimzon Guard, she supplied information to the Underground since she had no real love for her father's ways and wished that Haven City could be a better place. After her father's murder by Metal Kor, she became the Governor of Haven City, and she founded the New Krimzon Guard, which later became the Freedom League. At this stage, she seemed to be flirtatious with Torn, saying that she was "dying to see him dance."
One year later in ''Jak 3'', when Haven City became a battlefield between the Krimzon Guard, the Freedom League, and the Metal Heads, she fought to bring Jak back to the city after he was banished by Veger to the Wasteland. Soon after Jak arrived back in the city, she disbanded the City Council and deprived Count Veger of any command. Interestingly, Ashelin seems to display more interest in Jak around this time, even sharing a passionate moment with him after he defeated Erol's Terraformer, which most fans protested against. When the heroes were tricked into taking part in a combat racing championship in '', Ashelin quickly developed a tense rivalry with Rayn, believing that she was in on Krew's plan. She seems back on track in her relationship with Torn, and it is still not known what exactly persuaded her to devote her attention to Jak in ''Jak 3''.
Ashelin is never seen without her old Krimzon Guard uniform and her handgun which she uses in combat. She also has her own special HellCat Cruiser, which doesn't seem to be restricted to the two hover zones as all other air vehicles are, since it can fly high above and even outside of the city.
In ''Jak X: Combat Racing'', Ashelin is 24 years old and 6 feet tall (two inches taller than Jak at the time).
Boggy Billy
Boggy Billy lives and owns Boggy Swamp. Billy is supposed to be a hillbilly in the swamp that doesn't shower, bathe, and likes to drink. Jak and Daxter aid him by killing all the Rat Lurkers so that Billy's pet hip-hog Farthy would return. Farthy returns to Billy and Billy gives Jak a Power Cell.
English Voice Actor: David Herman
Brutter
| English voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|
| Alan Blumenfeld | Hiroshi Iwasaki |
'Brutter' seems to lead the remaining Lurkers in Haven City in ''Jak II''. He has a trinket shop in the bazaar of the city. He twice sends Jak and Daxter to rescue the Lurkers that the Krimzon Guards have captured. He is somewhat disrespected by Jak and Daxter due to his being a Lurker, but he seems to be unaware of this. In fact, Brutter seems to like Jak and Daxter, at one point kissing Daxter, and at another giving them a piece of the Seal of Mar as a present. Near the end of the game, Brutter earns some respect from Jak and Daxter, when he provides a flying balloon for them to send the Rift Rider to the Metal Head nest. Brutter apparently joined the Freedom League after ''Jak II'', since Ashelin calls him "Captain" Brutter at the end of the game.
There is no explanation given for why Brutter is absent from most of the following games, but it is likely that he died when the Baron's palace was destroyed, especially since the palace went down to the bazaar, where Brutter's restaurant is. Another possible theory is that Brutter returned to the Lurker village in the Dig, where he used to live. If that's the case, Brutter probably only stayed in Haven city to rescue his fellow Lurkers in the first place
In the game ''Daxter'', Brutter owns a fish cannery in Haven City port. He is notably the only NPC character from ''Jak II'' to also appear in this game and directly interact with Daxter. This is perhaps only because Brutter's friendly attitude in ''Jak II'' suggested that he already knew Daxter.
Cutter
'Cutter', a real enigma on the Mizo team, this masked driver's origins are unknown. Some say Cutter once lived with the Marauders in the Icy North. Others say he was born in a mental asylum in Kras City and somehow escaped.
English Voice Actor: Chris Cox (actor)
Damas
'Damas' is one of the secondary characters in ''Jak 3''. Damas was once king of Haven City until Baron Praxis usurped the throne and exiled him to the Wasteland. To make things worse, Damas' son, Mar, was taken by Count Veger, a Precursor scientist. He is also the father of Jak but never figures that out in his life.
In the Wasteland, Damas managed to gather the people surviving out there and formed a new city, Spargus, in the desert. Damas led Spargus as an independent state, but continued to keep an eye on Haven City through the use of spies like Sig and eventually Jak and Daxter. Years of surviving in the desert hardened his heart and he finds it necessary for others to possess a warrior spirit like his own.
Years later, in answer to an old Wastelander distress call (Given to Jak by Ashelin), he would come across a young man, alongside an ottsel and a moncaw. The moncaw, Pecker, would quickly talk his way into serving as a mouthpiece for Damas, and the man and his ottsel, Jak and Daxter, he would test repeatedly by sending them out on various dangerous missions. Over time, Damas began to grow to respect Jak, even when he showed his defiance in refusing to battle Sig to the death. Eventually, Damas himself would come to Jak's aid in assaulting the Dark Makers attacking the planet, riding to the rescue in his personal buggy, the Slam Dozer/Ram Rod, and accompanying Jak in fighting his way into the enemy citadel.
As they stormed the inner tower, however, a shell fired by the Dark Makers overturned the Ram Rod, crushing Damas under its weight. His last request was for Jak to find his son, Mar. It is thought that Damas died never knowing that Jak ''was'' Mar, having been sent back in time so that he would be old enough to fight the Metal Head Leader and the Dark Makers when they came, but it is possible that Damas heard Jak say 'father' before he died.
Voice Actor Bumper Robinson
Erol
Edje
A member of Mizo's gang in Kras City, 'Edje' loves speed and he is always pushing his vehicles to the limit. He is especially skilled at using Blue Eco turbo, and is a tough target to hit. He also knows that the best defense is a good offense, and he is a skilled mine-layer too, making him one of Kras City's most feared racers.
English Voice Actor: Phil LaMarr
Explorer
The Explorer or Jak's Uncle lives in Sandover Village in retirement. He is not really Jak's Uncle, but just calls himself that. As Jak grew up Samos and the Explorer were his guardians, though he did not know. When Jak and Daxter set out on their mission to the north the Explorer asks Jak for some Precursor Orbs for supplies.
Some people have said they have seen the Explorer in Jak II in the Gardens of Haven City studing Yakows, but it is not proven whether the Explorer was seen.
English Voice Actor: Jack Carter
G.T. Blitz
'G.T. Blitz' is Kras City's racing commentator. His father was once one of the greatest racers on the planet until he was killed during a race.
Throughout the game, Blitz reports on the racing events and gives Jak the odd hint about the sport. Partway through the game, Blitz gains a co-anchor, Pecker, who greatly annoys him, especially when the moncaw begins to relate to the viewers about Mizo's involvement in the sport.
At the end, it transpires that Blitz is in fact Mizo in disguise and he races Jak through Kras City. But after Jak defeats him, Mizo is killed in a huge explosion.
He is 38 years old.
He is voiced by Phil LaMarr.
Gambler
The Gambler lives in Rock Village and as you can guess he is a gambler. At one point he bet that the Warrior would beat Klaww in a fight. The Warrior lost the battle and the Gambler lost all his money (Even lost his pants and uses a barrel). Jak and Daxter feel sorry for the Gambler and spare nintey Precursor Orbs to get him back on his feet. Then the Gambler said he would give them a Power Cell if they can beat the race record in the Precursor Basin. Eventually the Gambler has to give the Power Cell to Jak.
English Voice Actor: Brian Peck
Geologist
The female Geologist discovered the Lightening Moles in the Precursor Basin. The Flying Lurkers invade the Precursor Basin and scare the Lightening Moles away. The Geologist begs Jak and Daxter to get them back for a Power Cell and also nintey Precursor Orbs for research supplies. Jak ends up with two Power Cells. The Geologist has an English accent.
English Voice Actor: Carole Ruggier
Gol Acheron
Gol Acheron is the Sage of Dark Eco. Over the years, Gol and his sister Maia Acheron studied the ways of Dark Eco in secrecy. Over time, the Dark Eco corrupted them, turning them to the dark side. It was revealed that he may have been able to restore Daxter to his original form. Gol was supposedly killed alongside Maia when the four Sages pooled their powers together to create Light Eco, and Jak destroyed the Precursor Robot that Gol was piloting. However, Samos hints that they may return and since Jak opened an exit from the catacombs, it is possible they may return more corrupted than ever. He also made a small cameo appearance in "''Daxter''" in two of the dream minigames.
English Voice Actor: Dee Snider
Gordy
Gordy is one of the two miners of Volcanic Crater. He works with Willard in mining a gigantic diamond that would take hundreds of years, with two workers, to get out. Gordy has a short temper because he has to work with Willard. Jak and Daxter come to them one day and ask if they have any Power Cells. Gordy tells them that they found four while digging and that they would have to pay them nintey Precursor Orbs for each Power Cell. Eventually Gordy gets four sets of nintey orbs and Jak and Daxter get the Power Cells. It is never told wether Gordy and Willard ever finished their work.
English Voice Actor: Paul Parducci
Grim
Grim is one of Krew's explosive experts that Jak esorts through the sewers in ''Jak II''. He seems to be slightly less reckless than his partners, Jinx and Mog. His red armour suggests that he may be a former Krimzon Guard.
Farmer Zeb
Farmer Zeb, or just the Farmer, is the farmer of Sandover Village. He has a large straw hat and owns a ranch where he keeps his Yakows. It seems he is a lazy farmer because his Yakows always escape and he does nothing. Zeb asks Jak and Daxter to get them back in the ranch. Jak leads all the Yakows back in the pen and Zeb gives him a Power Cell.
Farmer Zeb also owns a large amount of land which he uses for crops.
Zeb also appears in one of Daxter's dreams in Daxter. Zeb is played as Morpheus from the Matrix and Daxter is Neo.
English Voic Actor: William Minkin
Farthy
Farthy is Boggy Billy's pet Hip Hog(half hippo and half hog). Farthy ran away when the Lurkers attacked Boggy Swamp. Jak and Daxter got Farthy back to Boggy Billy by laying down his favorite snacks.
Jinx
'Jinx' is an explosives expert, who used to work for Krew. He's a street-wise, sarcastic guy who loves to blow things up. In ''Jak II'', Jak and Daxter were given the task of escorting Jynx, along with Mog and Grim, to the statue of Mar in the sewers where Jinx blew up the statue, taking the Heart of Mar artifact back for Krew. A year later, in ''Jak 3'', he has joined up with the Freedom League, and he joins Jak and Daxter on a few missions. Most crucially, he steals a Krimzon Blast Bot, which Jak uses to destroy the barrier separating the Industrial Zone from the Slums, and therefore re-uniting the Freedom League. He usually refers to Jak as "Jakky boy" or "Blondie."
English Voice Actor: Cutter Mitchell
Kaeden
'Kaeden' is Metal Kor's right-hand man and the main antagonist of ''Daxter''. Like his master, he was able to slip into Haven city disguised as a human. He focused on getting rid of the bug exterminating companies of the city. The only company he didn't confess to close down was the "Kritter-Ridder Exterminating company" owned by Osmo. After trying to threat Osmo, he blew the exterminator shop to bits, but failed to kill Osmo. He then received orders from Kor to stop Daxter in rescuing Jak from the KG fortress. He went there in person and fought Daxter in his Metal Head form, but was defeated, and warned Daxter that his master (Kor) would be waiting outside the fortress, then, after that he dropped dead.
He is 123 years old in ''Jak X''.
English voice actor: Phil LaMarr
Klaww
'Klaww' was a huge Lurker that was sent by Gol and Maia Acheron to attack Rock Village and prevent anyone from getting through the Mountain Pass. He had the ability to create and throw 30-ton flaming boulders, which he used to attack the village. He easily beat the local Warrior, resulting in the Warrior's deep melancholy. Klaww was only seen in '', where he was defeated by Jak.
Kleiver
'Kleiver' used to work for Krew, although he ended up in the Wasteland through unknown means. He unofficially became Damas' right-hand man, looking after Spargus City's garage and the range of vehicles in it, as well as being the best gunner on the large turret near the ocean, until Jak beats his score. He is a skilled racer and it pains him to give up one of his vehicles to someone else. His personal favorite vehicle is the Dune Hopper. When he first met Jak and Daxter in ''Jak 3'', he disliked them, and considered Daxter as a potential meal, but he came to respect them as he appreciated their racing talent. When Veger was made into an ottsel, Kleiver forcefully made him his sidekick. Later, in '', Kleiver arrives in Kras City, sans Veger, to get another chance to beat Jak on the circuit, but he is once again defeated. In ''Jak X'', Jak remarks that Kleiver doesn't do anything for free. Kleiver also seems to have an Australian accent.
In '', Kleiver is 51 years old, and 50 on Jak 3.
English Voice Actor: Brian Bloom
Kor
| English voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|
| Sherman Howard | Hiroshi Naka |
'Kor', also known as 'Metal Kor', was the Metal Head leader for eons. Unlike most Metal Heads, he was capable of transformations and human speech. Many eons ago, he led the Metal Heads in a war against the Precursors, seemingly destroying them and their civilization. The Metal Heads then disappeared, only reappearing through the Rift Gate opened by Jak at the beginning of ''Jak II''. They then destroyed much of the "old world," and the legendary hero Mar created Haven City to protect people and, more importantly, the Precursor Stone, from Kor. Obsessed with the Precursor Stone, calling it the "last Precursor egg," he placed Haven City under a three century siege, building a massive nest in within sight of the city. Eventually, he posed as an old man and joined the Underground, looking after the kid, who was later revealed to be a younger version of Jak.
His servant Kaeden also posed as a human, aiming to destroy Osmo's exterminator business while Kor focused on getting the Precursor Stone. Baron Praxis aimed to stay in office by bribing Kor with Eco, but Kor's secret deal with Krew allowed him to get through the city shield and kill Praxis. Metal Kor then retreated to the nest, where he confronted Jak and revealed the Kid's true identity. He was killed in a subsequent battle with Jak, when he attempted to escape through the Rift Gate, which severed his head. His head is currently hanging in the Naughty Ottsel bar. Through most of ''Jak II'', Jak and Daxter believed he was on their side but when they saw him, outside the construction site surrounded by Baron Praxis, he dropped down from some scaffolding with surprising agility. When Jak asked him what was happening, he replied: 'Oh I'm sure you know, Jak. Deep down in your darkest nightmares!'. He bared his teeth as he said 'nightmares', which became long and jagged, out of sight of Baron Praxis, before walking away, mutating into a giant Metal Head creature and revealing himself to be the cold-hearted, sadistic, and venomous Metal Kor.
Krew
| English voice actor | German voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|---|
| William Minkin | Maio Hassert | Chafūrin |
The extremely obese 'Krew' was a major crime lord in Haven City and Kras City, with all the factions of the Metal Head Wars possessing ties to him. It was revealed he was associated with Baron Praxis and Metal Kor, but later betrayed Praxis. It is unknown as to what exactly the Metal Heads rewarded him for his treachery. He built a piercer bomb so the Baron could open up the Precursor Stone, but was left to die by Jak when he activated his bomb after a brawl. As for the Metal Head Leader, he used Mar's ruby key to open a door in the underport which opened a flood gate for a bunch of Metal Heads.
In ''Jak X'', it is revealed he had left behind a daughter and will; however, the gifts left in the will were poisonous, and the characters from the previous games had to race for the antidote. During ''Jak X'', Daxter always shrieked and backed away from the Krew hologram because he was still grotesque. Krew's legs are so insignificant from lack of use that they can no longer hold his huge bulk up (or any part of it, as their small size shows).
Krew's use of antigravity devices to support his weight is reminiscent of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen from the Dune series.
It is believed that Krew could be in his 60's in Jak II
Maia Acheron
| English voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|
| Jennifer Hagood | YÅko SÅmi |
'Maia Acheron' was the sister of Gol Acheron, the Sage of Dark Eco, and, like her brother, was also warped by Dark Eco. She shared her brother's desire to flood the world with Dark Eco and rebuild it to their liking, and the two of them recruited the Lurkers to help them scavenge the parts to a Precursor Robot, the only thing capable of opening the Dark Eco silos. She and Gol, inside the robot, were defeated by Jak when he channeled a beam of Light Eco at them, and their cockpit sunk into the silo which supposedly killed them. Maia only appeared in ''.
Mar ("Kid" in Jak II)
'Mar' is the founder of Haven City and a legendary hero. A statue of him resided in Haven's sewers, before it was blown up by Krew's boys to get a jewel lodged in the face. This jewel was called the "Heart of Mar" and was required for the Rift Rider. He first appeared in Jak II as young Jak.
Jak's birth name is Mar, however there is a large amount of debate about whether or not Jak is ''the'' Mar, either was a direct descendant of the original Mar, or was simply named after him. However, if he truly is ''the'' Mar or else his direct descendant, then Samos' comment during the cutscene closure in Jak II would be full of irony, since he then says "I have a feeling we will be meeting Mar someday, he may be closer than you think!"
However, if Jak was simply named after him without him being part of 'Mar' in any way, then Samos' comment would be a result of Baitos (better known as a flop), in order to mislead Jak and Daxter gamers into thinking that Jak was the actual Mar from the start, and that the legends around him were Jak's adventures from the previous and later games, thus forming the legendary Mar into reality. Samos' comment might also mislead to think that Jak may be a direct descendent of the "House of Mar" lineage. If true, the 'Mar Descendent' theory would also make Damas a direct descendent of Mar, thus explaining why he was ruler of Haven City before Baron Praxis stole the throne by banishing him into the Wastelands and why "Kid" Jak was important in Jak II, because he was needed to restore the Mar lineage on Haven throne. As Mar was founder of Haven City, it would make sense that his descendents would later rule it throughout the 300 years in-between and Jak II, thus forming the "House of Mar" lineage and Jak's own legacy.
Mayor Manac
Mayor Manac (or just 'Mayor') is the mayor of Sandover Village. He often stutters and is constantly nervous. Manac asked for Jak's assistance in the Forbidden Jungle, and for their efforts, he rewarded Jak with a power cell.
English Voice Actor: Bob Hastings
Mizo
'Mizo' does not appear until near the end of . All that is established about his character before is that he is a major crimelord and a rival of the deceased Krew.
In the Kras City tournament, Mizo hires top racers Edje, Cutter, and Shiv to work for him, as Mizo's henchman Razer says, "eventually everyone does."
In the final tournament, Mizo reveals himself to be none other than race commentator G.T. Blitz and steals the poison antidote from the gang. Jak hunts him down and Mizo is killed in a large explosion.
English Voice Actor: Phil LaMarr
Mog
Mog is one of Krew's bombers that Jak and Daxter protects in the Sewers in Jak II
Ollie
Ollie the Fisherman is the fisherman of Sandover Village and provides food for the other villagers. He is good friends with Jak and Daxter and likes to call Daxter "Shrimpy". Ollie allows Jak and Daxter to use his speed boat after Jak catches 200 pounds of fish in the Forbidden Jungle.
English Voice Actor: Kevin Conroy
Onin
'Onin' is a wise old soothsayer who, at the time of ''Jak II'', lived in a tent in the bazaar in Haven City. She is blind and mute, but she communicates through hand movements which are interpreted by her moncaw, Pecker. She can also create small magic spells. Even while Jak was imprisoned in the Fortress as part of the Dark Warrior Program, Onin saw that Jak was somehow "special." She knows much about the world, and is the only one able to sense Kor's true identity as the Metal Head Leader. During the time of ''Jak 3'', Onin moved her hut to the Slums and joined the Freedom League, where her wisdom once again served Jak well.
Osmo Drawers
Note: Osmo's last name can be assumed to be "Drawers", because it is known that it was his father's father's last name.
'Osmo' is the owner of Haven City's the Kritter Ridder Extermination Company in Daxter. The company has been in his family for generations, founded by his grandfather, Ozmar Itchy Drawers III. He employed Daxter (or rather, tricked him into working for him) for a few months before Daxter was able to save Jak from prison. He has an ancient Zoomer that he calls "Old Betsy" that still uses propellers. It is unknown what happened to him after the events of ''Daxter'', but he did pay a visit to the Naughty Ottsel after Jak and Daxter defeated Kor. Osmo is the father of Ximon. Although the two of them are rarely seen together, Osmo seems to be disappointed in Ximon, referring to him as his "fool son of mine". He is 87 years old in ''Jak X'', making him about 85 in ''Daxter''.
English voice actor: Dana Kelly
Ottsel Dummy
'Ottsel Dummy' is one of three Precursors, which are revealed to be ottsels, seen in ''Jak 3''. He is the least intelligent of the trio, questioning Ottsel Leader's wisdom and looking very goofy.
English Voice Actor:David Herman
Ottsel Leader
'Ottsel Leader' is the leader of the Precursors. He is the most intelligent and sophisticated out of the three Precursors seen in ''Jak 3'', and it is he who seems to voice the Oracle through a digitally enhanced microphone, an obvious joke of The Wizard of Oz. Ottsel Leader grants several wishes, often preceded by him saying, "be careful what you wish for..." He grants Daxter's deepest desire, which is for a pair of pants; when Veger wishes to evolve into a Precursor, Ottsel leader turns him onto an ottsel, and when Tess remarks to Daxter, "I wish I had a pair of pants like those!" he turns her into an ottsel as well, albeit one with pants. Ottsel Leader was also either very stocky or wore extremely bulky clothing.
English Voice Actor: David Herman
Ottsel Surfer
'Ottsel Surfer' is one of the three Precursors seen in ''Jak 3''. He appears to be second-in-command after Ottsel Leader. He talks in a stereotypical "surfer-dude" accent, and his mannerisms are very similar to those of a typical surfer.
English Voice Actor: David Herman
Pecker
| English voice actor | French voice actor | German voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chris Cox | Pascal Renwick | Peter Wenke | Wataru Takagi |
'Pecker' is a Spanish-accented monkaw (half monkey, half macaw) who served as an interpreter for the blind and mute soothsayer, Onin. He has little regard for Onin's words, often twisting them to his preference and summing things up in a disrespectful manner. He and Daxter have a rivalry from the very start, often fighting and yelling obscenities at each another. In ''Jak II'', he is simply Onin's interpreter, but in ''Jak 3'', he joins Jak and Daxter out in the Wasteland and briefly becomes Damas' advisor before returning to Onin in Haven City.
In '', Pecker becomes a co-presenter on the Kras City Racing Championship with G.T. Blitz, who is annoyed by Pecker's loud-mouthed attitude. He and G.T Blitz appear in frequent comical cutscenes where they are fighting for the attention of the cameras. Pecker is also an unlockable racer later in the game. It seems that he ages like a macaw would, as he is 118 years old in Jak X.
Baron Praxis
| English voice actor | German voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|---|
| Clancy Brown | Hans Mittermüller | Daisuke GÅri |
'Baron Praxis' is the former ruler of Haven City and the father of Ashelin. He originally got to power by betraying the city's former leader, Damas and banishing him to the Wasteland, ending the long line of Mar's descentants who had ruled the city. The Baron ruled the city with an iron fist for many years and formed the Krimzon Guard to do his bidding and keep Damas's old followers at bay. The Metal Heads were still a threat to the city, which gave Praxis the conclusion to make a deal with their leader, Kor to "attack the city just enough to satisfy his continued rule" in exchange for Eco, giving everyone in the city other things to think about than overthrowing him. However, the Baron couldn't supply unlimited Eco, and thus resorted two backup plans. First, he tried to use Dark Eco to warp certain subjects (including Jak) into powerful warriors. After two years of testing, this experiment failed, leading the Baron to seek the immense power of the Precursor Stone that lied in the Tomb of Mar (which the Baron wrongly thought to be located in the Dig). Jak eventually found the Tomb, but the Baron seizes him and staels the Precursor Stone, intending to blow it up to destroy the Metal Head nest, not realising that the explosion would destroy the world. He had made a deal with Krew to use Krew's Piercer Bomb to crack the stone open, but Krew was killed by Jak before the plan could be carried out. He had another bomb resorted, but before he could suceed in activating it, Kor, who was seeking the Precursor Stone, seized and killed Praxis. In Praxis's last moments of life, he activated his bomb, ending his life with the words "the first rule in making a bomb is to always make two".
Rayn
''Rayn'' is a character from ''. She is Krew's beautiful twenty-year-old daughter who is looking to secure a bet her father made with the current crime lord, Mizo, to run Kras City. She takes an almost instant liking to Jak, likely due in part to his support of her innocence of the poisoned toast for the reading of Krew's will.
Rayn is depicted as a polite and charming young woman with a British accent.
In the credits, Rayn is seen standing next to a two-toned green Firebat.
English Voice Actress: Jeannie Elias
Razer
'Razer' is a character from ''. Razer is a retired champion racer and Mizo's most important henchman. He loves to taunt Jak about his own racing prowess but is defeated in the Final Championship Race.
Razer's accent is a topic of debate among fans. Individual assertions about its origin include French, German, Dutch, and Russian.
Razer drives a Havoc V12. Razor is also a joke to EA's game '', where the last boss is named Razor.
Razer is 31 years old on Jak X.
English Voice Actor: David Herman
Sage: Blue
The 'Blue Sage' is the descendant of the original Sage appointed by the Precursors. He is a master of Blue Eco, an electricity-like substance that grants speed and conductivity. The Blue Sage was captured by his former friend Gol Acheron and was forced to power Gol's Precursor robot. He is apparently a genius inventor, but he appeared very nervous and jittery, speaking extremely quickly (much like his Blue Eco mastership) and confusing Daxter greatly. He was rescued by Jak and together with the other sages, created White Eco.
English Voice Actor: John Di Crosta
Sage: Red
The 'Red Sage' is the descendant of the original Sage appointed by the Precursors. He is a master of Red Eco, a gooey and firey red substance that grants the user great strength. He wears a robotic armor which has several red eco tubes that go throughout his body, probably giving him super strength. The Red Sage was captured by his former friend Gol Acheron and was forced to power Gol's Precursor robot. He was one of the friendlier Sages and lived in a volcanic crater. When he was rescued by Jak, he mistakenly presumed that Daxter was the one who had rescued him and gave him all the credit. He and the other Sages then worked together to create White Eco.
English Voice Actor: Sherman Howard
Sage: Yellow
The 'Yellow Sage' is the descendant of the original sage appointed by the Precursors. He is a master of Yellow Eco, a bright air-like substance that allows the user to shoot boiling hot balls of energy from their hands. The Yellow Sage, like all others before him, was captured by Gol Acheron. He is the grouchiest of the sages and was intent on making a snack of Daxter. On his back he carries a blaster that shoots Yellow Eco from its barrel. He along with other sages were rescued by Jak and worked together to create Whit Eco.
English Voice Actor: Jason Harris
Sculptor
The Sculptor of Sandover Village is one of the many villagers to aid Jak and Daxter. The Sculptor's Muse ran away to Misty Island and he asks Jak if he could find him. Jak and Daxter return one day with the Muse and the Sculptor claims "My inspiration!" meaning he could only work if he had the Muse. Also it has been noted wether the Sculptor made the fountain next to the Mayor's house. The Sculptor has, like the Ottsel Surfer and Ximon, a surfer dude accent.
English Voice Actor: David Herman
Seem
Note: Seem's sex is hard to determine even at one point is called "monk boy" by Daxter, but she is indeed a female. She was originally going to be male, but she was changed to female, though the reason is unknown. Bob Rafei, the concept artist for Naughty Dog, has pictures of male and female Seem on his website at http://www.bobrafei.com
'Seem' is a Precursor monk living in the Wastelands outside Haven City. As she is not fond of outsiders, she is distrustful of Jak and Daxter when they first meet. Seem was preoccupied with the arrival of the "Day Star" which she thought would cause the end of the world. Seem is very knowledgeable in the ways of the Precursors and even knew what they really looked like. Seem originally thought that Jak would make things worse by trying to stop the Metal Heads and Dark Makers, but eventually realized he might actually be able to save them.
She was originally scripted to die in the siege of the Precursor Mountain Temple by the Dark Makers, but her death was cut from the final version of the game.
English Voice Actress: Tara Strong
Shiv
Born on the streets of Spargus, this former Wastelander is one of the toughest combat racers on the track. 'Shiv' earned deep respect and fear with his lighting quick moves and surprise kills. He is noticeable because he is heavily tattooed and has severed ears.
English Voice Actor: Warren Burton
Sig
| English voice actor | German voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|---|
| Phil LaMarr | Peter Wenke | JÅji Nakata |
'Sig' is a Wastelander who first appeared in ''Jak II''. He was Krew's supposed right hand man, occasionally helping Jak in his missions. His last mission for Krew was opening a door in the Underport; unfortunately, this was a trap set up by Krew and Metal Kor to infiltrate Haven City. Almost swarmed by Metal Heads, he was rescued by Jak but presumably killed by a Metal Head, although it was revealed in the end he had survived.
In ''Jak 3'', it is revealed that he was sent to Haven City as a spy, trying to find Damas' missing son, Mar, who had been captured by Veger before Damas' exile. He and Jak were sent on suicide missions to toughen them up after Damas decided that Sig had gone soft from years of living in Haven City. He is also called back to Haven to assist in handling the heavier missions set by the Freedom League. In the final cut scene of the game, Sig takes Damas' place on the throne of Spargus City; as such, it is assumed that he is Damas' successor, and the new leader of Spargus. He is well-known for being the only other character in any game to use the Peacemaker (and possibly the first character to receive one).
In ''Jak X'', he joins in on the racing action in an attempt to help Jak and the others win the championship and gain the antidote for the poison from Krew's henchmen. In ''Jak X'' a plot hole can be seen when his robotic eye changes positions.
In ''Jak X'' he is revealed to be 28 years old.
Taryn
'Taryn' is a mysterious woman who helps Daxter around killing bugs. She mostly only upgrades Daxter's bug spray. She doesn't really like Daxter (his liking for women seems to annoy her), but seems to show a bit of respect for him when he proves his skills in exterminating bugs. She usually just disappears after giving Daxter upgrades. She hides her small liking for Daxter well, after giving him a spray upgrade, she comments "I don't know why I do you favours like this". She is 18 years old.
Taryn resembles Kya from Atari's .
English voice actor: Susan Eisenberg
Tess
| English voice actor | German voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|---|
| Britton A. Hill | Gabi Franke | Yumi TÅma |
'Tess' is an Underground supporter, first seen in ''Jak II''. Tess and Daxter seem to like each other a lot and is one of the few females to like Daxter better than Jak. She once got over-protective over Daxter and mananged to threaten Jak. Tess also is one of the few people who believes that Daxter's stories are true (besides Sig, Osmo, etc). She is also very courageous, helping on the front lines in whatever way possible. She worked at the Hip Hog as a barmaid, sent in by Torn as a ruse to gain Krew's secrets.
In ''Jak 3'', Tess works to create new guns for the war effort, notably the Gyro Burster (Yellow Gun 3) and the Plasmite RPG (Red Gun 3). At the end of the game, she makes a remark about wanting a pair of pants like the pair the Precursors gave Daxter. The Precursors decide to grant this request in a creative way by turning her into an Ottsel, which makes her and Daxter very happy.
After Jak 3 is beaten she can be seen in the Firing Range room in her original form still. An odd thing is she doesn't get any pants like Daxter's. Her role is very small in '', having appeared only in her Ottsel form in a 10-second cut scene that is purchased in the Secrets Shop, an obvious joke to the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas "Hot Coffee" scandal.
Also, in the "Hot Coffee" scandal video, some lines Tess said from Jak II were put on this video, meaning that Tess technically never said anything. The reason for this was probably because Britton A. Hill couldn't voice act during the making of ''Jak X''.
Tess managed to curse once out of the whole Jak II and 3 series. She said the curse word "Hell" in ''Jak 3''.
Also in Daxter, Tess appears in her human form in the epilogue of the game. Some people have mistaken this for an ability that allows Tess to transform into an Ottsel at will; this is inncorrect seeing as how all of these events take place before ''Jak 3'' and her subsequent transformation.
Torn
| English voice actor | German voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|---|
| Cutter Mitchell | Michael Betz | Rikiya Koyama |
'Torn' makes his first appearance in ''Jak II'' as the second-in-command of the Underground rebel group fighting against Baron Praxis, topped only by "The Shadow" ( Young Samos) in rank. Although he may appear gruff and angry at the start of the game, he slowly warms up to Jak as you complete the tasks he gives you. At one stage in the game, he sells Jak and Daxter out in order to save Ashelin from possible assassination at the hands of her father, Baron Praxis. This, along with his attitude when speaking of her and his actions in her presence, reveals her as his possible romantic interest.
In ''Jak 3'' he is the leader of the Freedom League, and seems much warmer toward Jak than in ''Jak II''; however, his dislike and/or annoyance with Daxter is as obvious as ever. In Jak 3 you first encounter Torn at the Naughty Ottsel, Daxter's bar, which he has converted into a Southern HQ for the Freedom League after he and some of his followers were stranded at the Port, following a failed suicide mission set up by Count Veger. He shifts back to the Freedom League Headquarters after Jak brings down the barriers set up by Veger, and resumes command from there. He is shown participating in one mission set by Ashelin, which was to blow open the Metal Head nest.
In '', Torn is still with you and he is just as steely as ever. He has little contact with the majority of characters beyond Ashelin, though his interactions with Jak suggests that they have finally developed a friendship or companionship of sorts. His relationship with Ashelin is certified in this installment.
In ''Jak X'' he is 30 years old.
Tweedledove Perch
Tweedledove Perch or the Bird Lady or even the Birdwatcher is the birdwatcher of Sandover Village and is obssed with all kinds of birds even to the point were she thought Daxter was a bird. Tweedledove asks Jak and Daxter if they can find a Flut-Flut egg in Sentinel Beach. She goes with them to Sentinel Beach and waits at the bottom of the cliff while they push the egg off. She gives them a Power Cell for their valour and brings the Flut-Flut to the Green Sage.
English Voice Actor: Laurie Fraser
UR-86
With steely nerves and lightning quick reactions, 'UR-86' is the deadliest driver on the planet. A former Krimzon Death-Bot, this bad-to-the-bolts racer holds the record for most kills in a single race, and now works for Mizo and Razer. He is defeated by Jak in the Grand Prix race of the first cup. It is possible that his name reffers to the phrase “86ed†meaning to be out of or gotten rid of in popular resteraunt lingo, hence “You are 86"; "You are gone".
Count Veger
'Count Veger', first seen in ''Jak 3'', is the Power Broker for the Grand Council of Haven City. At the start of ''Jak 3'', he officially banishes Jak to the Wastleland. When Jak and Daxter arrive back in the city by way of the Precursor subrails, Veger reveals that he was the one who destroyed the Palace, which caused Jak's exile, and attempts to stop them by activating a giant Precursor robot. In the end of ''Jak 3'', he steals away the right of evolving into a Precursor from Jak. Seconds later, it was revealed that Precursors are really ottsels (otter and a weasel), so Veger was reluctantly transformed into an ottsel. He is now the companion of Kleiver, who has decided that he wants a sidekick and forcefully nominated him. In the events of Jak X he is not found riding on Kleiver's shoulder when Kleiver arrives in Kras City.
Although he does not appear until ''Jak 3'', Veger is arguably the "main villain" of the trilogy as he, alongside Kor, was responsible for most of the events that happened to Jak during his life (separation from his father, exile into the Wasteland, and subsequent torment throughout ''Jak 3'').
Count Veger also appears in ''Daxter'' in one scene when he is talking to Erol, trying to convince him to use Light Eco in his experiments instead of Dark Eco. He also devised the pejorative name "Eco-freak" which both he and Erol used to refer to Jak.
English Voice Actor: Phil LaMarr
Vin
| English voice actor | German voice actor | Japanese voice actor |
|---|---|---|
| Rob Benedict | Walter Jauernisch | Hiroshi Yanaka |
'Vin' is the bumbling, mumbling, jittery chief engineer of Haven City and charged with keeping the Eco Grids online, which keeps the Metal Heads out of the city. Because of the stress of his job, he has a jumpy and paranoid nature, which Daxter often uses to add to the comedy of the story. Jak first meets him when Torn tells him to save Vin at the Strip Mine. Vin is supposedly killed by Metal Heads when Kor deactivates Haven City's shield walls (allowing a Metal Head invasion).
In ''Jak 3'', it is discovered that Vin dumped his brain into the city's Eco Grid before being killed by the Metal Heads, thus giving him immortality as a virtual being. As he is confined to the lab walls.
Vin helps Jak in ''Jak 3'' by sending Daxter into a Pac Man-like game to collect a cypher to unlock the war factory doors. He does not make an appearance in ''.
Warrior
The Warrior or Ass-Kicked Warrior is the protector of Rock Village. Once he was a hero to the villagers of Rock Village, but when Klaww arrives and the Blue Sage is kidnapped the Warrior battled Klaww and lost. He became fearful and scared of anything that moved. Jak and Daxter try to get him from crying in his corner but he is too scared. Daxter loves to crack jokes about him because of his size and that he is affraid. He helps Jak by putting the pontunes back to go to the Mountain Pass.
English Voice Actor: Marc Worden
Willard
Willard is one of the two miners of Volcanic Crater. He supposed to be an idiot, that is why Gordy hates him, and he does not seem to understand math or anything else. He works with Gordy in mining a gigantic diamond that would take hundreds of years, with two workers, to get out. Jak and Daxter come to them one day and ask if they have any Power Cells. Gordy tells them that they found four while digging and that they would have to pay them nintey Precursor Orbs for each Power Cell. Eventually Willard gets four sets of nintey orbs and Jak and Daxter get the Power Cells. It is never told wether Gordy and Willard ever finished their work.
Ximon Drawers
'Ximon' is Osmo's son and another pest exterminator. He has a generic surfer accent, often saying words such as "dude", and he is extremely laid-back. He has a Scooter, which he lent to Daxter during ''Daxter'' and he also flies his own hover vehicle. He believes that Jak is Daxter's sidekick. Ximon is not seen again after the events of ''Daxter'', so what he did during Jak II and after is unknown.
He is 22 years old in ''Jak X''.
English Voice Actor: David Herman
Creatures
Dark Makers
The Dark Makers, or Dark Precursors, are a mysterious alien race who have conquered many worlds before becoming bent on the destruction of Jak's planet. Their technology is impressive, being able to build huge machines such as the Terraformer and the Dark Maker Ship (called the "Day Star" by Seem). They have an unknown link to the Metal Heads, and, according to the Ottsel Leader, the Dark Makers were once Precursors, but they were tainted by Dark Eco and became twisted. Erol, resurrected as a cyborg after his crash in the previous game, struck a deal with them, since he was also obsessed with the idea of destroying the world. Erol and his Terraformer were destroyed by Jak. Some fans have proposed a theory of a connection between the Dark Makers and the Metal Heads. It is possible that the Metal Heads were some sort of techno-organic bioweapon created by the Dark Makers in order to wage war against the Precursors long ago. In ''Jak 3'', Jak tells Erol that the Metal Heads made some sort of deal with the Dark Makers and came to regret it. Also, in ''Jak II'', the Precursor Oracle grants Jak with powers to control his ''dark side'', by defeating their enemies, the Metal Heads. Another theory by fans, is that the Dark Makers were Precursers who sought Dark power in order to win their war against the Metal Heads, and became corrupted by its evil power in the process.
Flut Flut
Large birds that can be ridden by Jak. There is only one in the entire series, and is only found in the past. However, in ''Jak 3'', similar creatures, known as Leaper Lizards, can be found in the desert.
Hybrids
Throughout the series there are various creatures which are mixtures of two types of animals. Their names are also a combination of the 2 (possibly an homage to Dingodile). They include Ottsels, Yakows, Hip Hogs, Croca-dogs, Monkaws, and Kanga Rats.
An ''Ottsel'' is a fictional hybrid of a weasel and an otter. Ottsels stand between two and three feet in height, and are most commonly orange and yellow in coloration. Daxter is the best example of an ottsel. As a running joke, ottsels, though rarely seen, are often subjects of jokes, including the idea of creating coats or foods out of them. In a surprise twist near the end of ''Jak 3'', ottsels turn out to be the fabled Precursors in the ''Jak and Daxter'' mythology. So it was seen as a blessing that Daxter became an ottsel and others accidentally followed suit. Tess and Veger become ottsels near the end of the game; Tess due to wishing she had the same pants as Daxter, and Veger when he wished to become a Precursor, not yet knowing that they were ottsels.
Marauders
Residing in a fortress to the south of the Wasteland, they frequently cause trouble for the citizens of Spargus, attacking its gates and vehicles with their own machines. They have adapted to the harsh desert climate surprisingly well, but they are a wild people who will attack anyone without prejudice. Marauders also have a city in the Icelands, and, according to Naughty Dog's ''Jak X'' website, this is what they call home.
Metal Heads
Very little is known of the Metal Heads, their origins, or their society. What is known is that, millennia before the games, they waged a destructive war with the Precursors (who called them the Hora-Quan, presumably their native name). Driven by Metal Kor, the Metal Head Leader, they destroyed the Precursor civilization. They invaded Jak and Daxter's world when Jak, Daxter, Keira, and Samos the Sage opened a Rift Gate that launched them into the future at the beginning of Jak II. Eventually they overran the world so effectively that only a few cities existed by ''Jak II''. The Metal Heads established a huge nest within sight of Haven City, hoping to seize the city and gain the Precursor Stone, which is actually the last Precursor egg (though revelations in Jak 3 seem to negate this). Kor managed to infiltrate the city to disrupt it. By making a deal with Krew, a local crime boss, the Metal Heads gained access to the city through the underport. Eventually, Kor reveals himself to Jak and Daxter, who travel to the nest with the Precursor stone and, in a final confrontation, kill Metal Kor, severing his gigantic head and putting it up as a trophy in the Naughty Ottsel, Krew's former bar. By ''Jak 3'', the Metal Heads have managed to reorganize under their strongest members, even gaining a foothold in Western Haven City and building a gigantic hive tower. ''Jak 3'' also seems to hint at some sort of past relationship between the Metal Heads and the Dark Makers, but this has not been elaborated on, and it is not said how Jak, the person who first stated this, found out. The Tower was destroyed in a mission. The Metal Heads had a very little appearance in ''Jak X'', seen in a single event, and the phrase "Metal Head" is never actually said. They are most likely regrouping once again. The Metal Heads are seen in the ''Daxter'' PSP game, during their initial invasion of Haven City. In this game it is revealed that Kor had a second in command named Kaeden who, like Kor, was capable of speech and transformation. The Metal Heads seem to have maintained an endless war with the people of Jak's planet, having destroyed an unknown number of cities and evidently eating the inhabitants. The cities of Haven, Spargus, Kras and the Marauder city are the only known cities that weren't destroyed, and the Metal Heads see Haven as the main target. Metal Heads are very diverse in size and physiology. Many of them appear insectoid, while others seem more reptilian (there are even aquatic Metal Heads). Metal Heads have two or four eyes. They seem to be techno-organic, as many are equipped with lasers, jets, energy shields, rockets, and cloaking devices. All Metal Heads have what is called a "skull gem" in their foreheads or chest, presumably the source of their name. No matter their size or rank, the skull gem is always the same size, and seems to always remain whatever form the Metal Head takes (Kor and Kaeden still have a yellow gem in their foreheads even when in human form, although it does not glow and is not noticed by anyone). In Jak ''II'', the skull gems were needed for Jak to gain new Dark Eco abilities from the Oracle. The insectoid appearance of many Metal Heads, as well as the use of the terms "hive" and "nest," leads many fans to believe that the Metal Heads possess some sort of hive mind or collective conscious. However, this is not confirmed in the games. They reproduce by laying eggs, which are grayish in color and have a yellow skull gem in the middle. Several times in the game(s), Jak is sent to blow up these nests. The eggs can also be found stuck to cave or steel walls with some kind of webbing. Also, if the eggs are in pools of Dark Eco, they will grow stalks. Metal Heads seem to feast on both Dark Eco, a powerful form of energy in the series, as well as the flesh of whatever they can find. This desire for Eco and meat could be a reason for Kor's obsession with the Precursor Stone.
Muse
Small mystical fox-like creatures. The Sculptor in Sandover Village had one but lost it. Jak and Daxter found his Muse in Misty Island and returned it for a Power Cell.
Oracles
The Precursor Oracles are ancient Precursor artifacts commonly found in far off places. They speak, but are supposedly pre-recorded, as the Precursors barely exist by the time Jak finds them. They range in height from seven to around 70 feet, and all speak in the same voice (although in ''Jak II'' it is a different voice from ''Jak 3''). There is a little twist at the end of ''Jak 3'', when one of them inadvertently opens, and reveals the Precursors to be nothing more than ottsels. One could find it confusing how such large things can be made by two-foot-tall "rats," to which ottsels are commonly referred. In ''Jak & Daxter'', the Oracles were voiced by Michael Gollom, and from ''Jak II'' onward, by Richard McGonagle.
Precursors
The Precursors were an ancient race in the ''Jak and Daxter'' universe. They are the equivalent of gods and created all planets and all life, according to the mythology of the inhabitants of Jak's planet. They created giant robots to show their power and their followers crafted statues to illustrate what they thought the Precursors looked like, although their ideas are now known to be terribly inaccurate. Precursors had the ability to grant people power in exchange for valuables. In '', their origin and fate were partially explained. Precursor Orbs could be found which were remnants of their civilization, which was used as currency. Correct translation of the runes in the border around the game manual map explains partially more. The Precursors showed themselves as Oracles, beings with large noses like trunks. Even two Precursor robots were discovered, the second of which was modified by Gol and Maia Acheron. In ''Jak II'', they granted Jak Dark Eco powers in exchange for Metal Head skull gems. It was revealed that the Precursors were all but wiped out by the Metal Heads, and their sole hope of survival was the Precursor Stone, which was said to be the last Precursor egg. ''Jak 3's story revealed this to be false, a shocking twist near the end of game reveals that the Precursors were ottsels (in a scene very similar to the revelation of the wizard in ''The Wizard of Oz'').
