(Redirected from List of China administrative regions by population density)
This is a list of the first-level
administrative divisions of
People's Republic of China (P.R.C.), including all provinces, autonomous regions, special administrative regions, and municipalities, in order of their
population density at the end of
2004. The figures are given in persons per
square kilometer.
Taiwan Province, which is claimed by the People's Republic of China (PRC) but is entirely under the administration of the
Republic of China (ROC), is excluded from this list. Also, the figure for
Fujian Province excludes the population in the area that is under the administration of the
Fukien Province of the ROC. The population figure of the entire territory under the administration of the ROC , which includes
Taiwan,
Penghu,
Matsu,
Kinmen, and
other islands, collectively known as the ''
Free Area'' or the ''Taiwan Area'', is included at the end of the list for comparison purposes.
