George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary, in Ladner British Columbia, is the winter home of the Lesser Snow Goose as well as many other resident and migratory bird species. Day 13: After breakfast in Cuquisa, we take the way to Oruro, firstly surrounding the base of the volcano in route to Garci Mendoza, good place to find the increasingly rear Lesser Rhea and dispersed groups of Tawny-throated Dotterel. We continue toward a lagoon that fills the enormous crater caused by a meteorite in Tambo Tambillo ... Day 14: After breakfast in Oruro we continue northwards towards Ciudad de Piedra and Comanche searching for the blooming and dramatic Puya raimondii, seeing in the road Darwin´s Nothura, Spot-winged Pigeon, Andean Hillstar, Plain-mantled Tit-Spinetail, Rusty-vented Canastero, Puna Canastero, Black-billed Shrike-Tyrant, Bright-rumped Yellow-Finch and Peruvian Sierra-Finch... Day 15: The best places to include are The Precious Metals Museum and Customs Museum in Jaén Street, continuing later to the Coca Museum and Witches Market... Day 16: Breakfast and search for our endemic birds in Altai Oasis and nearby places like the slopes of Illampu Other possibilities are White-throated Hawk, Andean Snipe, Andean Parakeet, White-vented Violetear, Green-tailed Trainbearer, White-bellied Woodstar, Puna Thistletail, Black-throated Flowerpiercer, Peruvian Sierra-finch among others... Day 17: we go to Copacabana, surrounding the Titicaca Lake while enjoying the splendid views to the snow capped Cordillera Central while spotting Ornate Tinamou, Many-colored Rush-Tyrant, Short-billed Pipit, Yellow-winged Blackbird, Yellow-bellied Siskin among other birds already mentioned and the way of life of the Aymara's people... Day 18: Sailing the Titicaca Lake for the day, visiting Island of the Sun. The landscapes are unforgettable. Gulls will follow our boat and we'll go across the way of different grebes, herons, ducks and coots.
