LAVA SPINE

A 'lava spine' is an upright cylindrical mass of lava caused by the upward squeezing of pasty lava inside a volcanic vent. Castle Towers Mountain, in southwestern British Columbia, is considered to be a lava spine similar to those near Mount Pelée.
