'Lantzville' is a coastal community on the east side of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada along the western shore of Strait of Georgia and immediately north of the City of Nanaimo, British Columbia.
The District of Lantzville was incorporated on June 25th, 2003. It covers an area of 27.87 square kilometres. In the 2006 census, Lantzville's population was recorded at 3,661. The district is almost completely residential, with some commercial buildings on the main drag, Lantzville Rd (formerly part of the Island Hwy).
Lantzville was originally a mining town and is named after its American founder, Fraser Harry Lantz. The mayor of Lantzville is Colin Haime. To remember its history Lantzville annually celebrates Mine Town Days.(A community fair.)
In addition, there is a public elementary school, Seaview Elementary, and two Anglican churches. Also, there is an Indian Reserve, on the north side of the village. Amenities in the village include a jeweller, a book publisher, a travel agency, a dentist, doctor's offices, pharmacy, corner store, etc. Lantzville is also known for the Lantzville Pub, Legion and Community Hall which is available to rent for events such as wedding receptions, banquets and staff parties.
