LANGLADE ISLAND

Map of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon

'Langlade Island', also referred to by foreigners as "Little Miquelon", is part of the commune (municipality) of Miquelon-Langlade, in the French overseas collectivity of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. Located in the North Atlantic, south of Newfoundland's Burin Peninsula, it is linked to the island of Miquelon by a 12 mile sand dune.
Langlade lost its sole year-round inhabitant, Charles Lafitte[1] when he died in July 2006. However, Langlade is a summer retreat for many inhabitants of Saint-Pierre. In the summer, Langlade's population can swell up to 1000.
