'Kazusa' (上ç·å›½; -no kuni) was an
old province in the area of the
Boso Peninsula of
Honshū that is today the central part of
Chiba prefecture. Kazusa bordered on
Awa and
Shimo-Usa Provinces.
Kazusa was usually run from a castle town at
Otaki, although the ancient capital was likely located near
Ichihara, across the peninsula.
History
During the Edo period, the following domains were located in Kazusa:

JÅzai, ruled by the Hayashi family.

Iino, ruled by the Hoshina family.

Ichinomiya, ruled by the KanÅ family.

Kururi, ruled by the Kuroda family.

ÅŒtaki, ruled by the Matsudaira (ÅŒkochi) family.
