'Kawanabe' (川辺郡; -gun) is a
district located in
Kagoshima,
Japan.
Following the
Minamisatsuma merger but as of
2003 population statistics, the district has an estimated
population of 28,788 and a
density of 116 persons per
km². The total area is 247.54 km².

November 7,
2005 the towns of
Bonotsu,
Kasasa, and
Ooura merged with the city of
Kaseda and the town of
Kinpo from the former
Hioki District forming the city of
