A wood-and-canvas
canoe built by Joe Seliga
'Joe Seliga' (
1911–
2005) was a master builder of wood-and-canvas
canoes in
Ely, Minnesota.
Seliga was inspired by the elegant
Morris canoes of
Maine, built from 1887 to 1920. Seliga was an inspiration and model for other canoe builders from before
World War II until his death at the age of 94, when he was still building canoes.
