Effects of structure and interaction style on distinct searc
Rob Capra presents the results from a user study of the relationships between search tasks, information architecture, and interaction style. Results demonstrate that faceted user interfaces that accept automated structuring of data compare favorably to manually developed website structures.
Dr Wolff Philosophy Physics Video: Wave Structure of Matter
Digital video interview on truth and reality - Philosophy Physics Metaphysics of Space and the Wave Structure of Matter. All Matter interactions are wave interactions in space (not particle / field interactions in space-time). The most simple science language for describing reality clearly works, please don't ignore it! The Wave Structure of Matter is sensible, logical, obvious once known. Please help make this knowledge visible on the internet. Fluid Structure Interaction : Oscillation of a Thin Plate
Oscillation of a thin plate in viscous incompressible flow, Re = 500. The plate is initially displaced to its first mode and then let free. Note how the fluid forces damp the plate. Contact : dominic.chandar@gmail.com for further details.
Fluid Structure Interaction example
A plunging airfoil in incompressible flow is deformed by aerodynamic forces. Flow solutions are obtained using Overture's CGINS solver. Structural displacements are modeled using the Euler-Bernoulli Beam Equation. (Reference - AIAA-2009-1273, Authors : Dominic Chandar and Murali Damodaran)
The Chaos of Structure
Download our album free www.audiri.com/synaesthesia Live footage from the Water Oscillation Tour in 2004 mixed with some new clips from the recent past. This video gives you an idea what the live performance of synaesthesia is like projection, lighting and sound. There are several cameos by the album artwork from which this song is the title track and the art is a 3-d rendering of the songs dynamic interaction.
It is necessary to re-structure nation in new Nepal: Adhikari
Head of the UML constitution making committee, Bharat Mohan Adhikari, speaking at interaction held by the party on formation of the new constitution, stated that the nation must be restructured to make and an all inclusive constitution must be made. Nepalnews.com, (www.nepalnews.com) is a leading Internet destination dedicated to bring you news, events, polls, discussions, forums about and from Nepal. Our primary objective is to bring "news as it happens"; quality news which is impartial, timely and independent. Our equally important other objective is to make this a web community for all people around the globe who have any interest, or need any information about Nepal.
Camera based natural user interaction
The natural interaction of users with large scale 3D-models in virtual/augmented reality is one of the big challenges for the application of the 3D-models created for example with structure from motion. This work is part of the multi-media lab of the MIP-group at the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel (www.mip.informatik.uni-kiel.de).
Under the Sea...
This video shows our group's recent trip to the New England Aquarium and the types of species interactions we saw there. The aquarium was a great place to see different ecological communities and the variety of species found in them. Our video illustrates the types of species interactions that we saw on our journey; competition, predation, herbivory, and mutualism. Competition in nature takes place when organisms are trying to obtain the same limited resource. In the aquarium the penguins and their quest to obtain as much fish as possible was a prime great example of competition. Predation is a very important type of species interaction because it greatly influences the composition of an ecological community. We thought we would be able to see predation when we saw the shark in the giant ocean tank considering it is a tertiary consumer. This was until we were informed that the sharks, the barracuda and the other predators were kept well fed to insure the safety of the smaller tank residents. The plants in many of the tanks served the purpose of the exploitive interaction herbivory. Furthermore, we were also able to see mutualism and symbiosis when we examined the coral reefs. The species interactions that we have covered in our video are a few of the many seen everyday in nature. The species interactions you see in different communities are so important because they help determine "the composition, structure, and function of communities" (101).
Co-Working: Independent Workers Unite
Many people strive for the freedom that working for themselves and freelancing brings. You can work odd hours in your pajamas at home, travel to exotic locals but still be on the job, not have to clock in at an office. After the initial exhilaration of being independent cools a bit, there is something missing- co-workers and the social environment that working for a company can bring. Enter Co-Working. Co-Working is an idea that independent workers still want and need social interaction and structure during working hours. Going stir crazy working in your living room? Can't stand that Madonna remix album they keep repeating at the cafe? Want to bounce your ideas off some other geeks? Co-Working! We started our Co-Working experience at The Hat Factory here in San Francisco. The most unexpected benefit, besides meeting great people, was the ability to separate work time from relax time- not an easy task for a freelancer. Our day schedule looked like this: Get up, go to Hat Factory, work for 6-8 hours, come home, put the computer to sleep, cook dinner, watch a movie. Hey, we didn't end up working for 12 hours today! We have a sustainable, not-burnt out life outside our work! Thanks Co-Working! Thanks to Brad Neuberg and Chris Messina and Tara Hunt, from Citizen Space, for sitting down with us and explaining how Co-Working got started and what it all means. Get involved in starting your own Co-Working space by connecting to the folks already doing it! Check out the Co-Working Wiki, Blog and E-mail list.
