The 'Innviertel' (literally German for the ''Inn'' quarter or district) is an Austrian region south-east of the Inn river, belonging to the state of Upper Austria and bordering the German state of Bavaria. The other three ''quarters'' of Upper Austria are ''Hausruckviertel'', ''Mühlviertel'', and ''Traunviertel''.
Innviertel belonged to Bavaria until 1777. After the War of the Bavarian Succession it was ceded to Austria. It returned to Bavaria in 1809 and again was ceded to Austria in 1816.
The Innviertel spans the districts of Schärding, Ried im Innkreis and Braunau am Inn.
Major towns in the Innviertel include the district capitals Schärding, Ried im Innkreis and Braunau am Inn.
