![]() | How To Swim in Corn Syrup (Part 2) This the same rubber band powered swimmer used in the previous video but in corn syrup, which uses a common flapping mechanism for swimming in water. This does not work to produce thrust at low Reynolds number. Since this is a kinematic reversible flow as it flaps one way then the other it undoes it's work, since it cannot shed vortices. This is why you don't see microscopic organisms(very small things are at a low Reynolds number) with flapping mechanisms.
