I was born in China but have lived in New York City since I was six years old. I went to Stuyvesant High School and then New York University on a merit scholarship. I graduated this year from NYU, Magna Cum Laude with an Honors Degree in Biology. At NYU, I founded health-related not-for-profit clubs such as Students for Organ Donation and volunteered at NYU Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital. For the past two years, I have also engaged in an in-depth independent research project on Barth Syndrome, a rare illness affecting the mitochondria. This fall, I will be a first-year student at NYU School of Medicine. I feel very privileged to be where I am today. I have been well-provided for and well-educated, and thus I feel incredibly grateful and fortunate. I feel indebted to my parents, and to society as a whole. My mission is to contribute back to society in any way that I can. I hope to do so through healthcare, involving myself in philanthropic activities and providingthe same opportunities to others. In my spare time, I like to play tennis and run.
