HIMOROGI

in Rokkou, Kobe, Japan

'Himorogi' (神籬) are sacred spaces or altars in ShintÅ. ''Himorogi'' are usually areas demarcated with green bamboo or ''sakaki'' at the four corners supporting sacred border ropes (''shimenawa''). A branch of ''sakaki'' at the center is a representation of the presence of the ''kami''.
