HELSINGBORG MUNICIPALITY

'Helsingborg Municipality' (''Helsingborgs kommun'') is a municipality in Skåne County in Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Helsingborg, which is Sweden's eighth largest city.
The present municipality was created in 1971 through the amalgamation of the ''City of Hälsingborg'' with four surrounding rural municipalities. At the same time the spelling of the name was changed back to the version used up until 1912. Since the 1990-es the municipality styles itself ''Helsingborgs stad'' (''City of Helsingborg''). This usage is only nominal and has no effect on the status of the municipality.
