'Hanover Courthouse' is an unincorporated community and the county seat of Hanover County, Virginia. Hanover Courthouse is located at the junction of U.S. Route 301 and State Route 54 south of the Pamunkey River. While historically and technically known as Hanover Courthouse, the community's post office and residents refer to it as 'Hanover'. The best-known historic structure in the town is the historic Hanover Tavern, once a Revolutionary-era tavern and now home of the Barksdale Theater.
