It now forms part of the town of
Runcorn in the
borough of Halton (which is named after it).

Etymology
Halton means "village at a
heathery place, from
Old English ''hathel'' "heathery" and ''tun'' "farm, village". The name was recorded as ''Haleltune'' in 1162.
