HALINA KONOPACKA


'Halina Konopacka' (born November 11, 1900 in Rawa Mazowiecka — died January 28, 1989 on Daytona Beach, United States), famous athlete, first Polish Olympic Champion (1928, Amsterdam). She had took part in the Olympic Games in Amsterdam, where she won a gold medal in discus throw breaking her own the world record. This was the first women's track and field event gold won in the Olympics.
Since she had retired, she has been a writer. After the Second World War she had lived in the United States.
