'HMS ''Discovery''' was the name of a number of vessels in the Royal Navy. Two vessels named HMS ''Discovery'' were used in the 18th century exploration of the Pacific Ocean. There were other vessels of exploration named RRS ''Discovery''.

★ An HMS ''Discovery'', commanded by Charles Clerke, served as the consort to HMS ''Resolution'' on Captain James Cook's third voyage of exploration, from 1776 to 1780. This vessel was 230 tons. George Vancouver was a junior officer on this vessel.

★ Another 337 ton vessel named HMS ''Discovery'' was commanded by Captain George Vancouver on his voyage of exploration from 1791 to 1794. This was the sixth vessel to be named HMS ''Discovery'' and the first recorded sighting of Mount St. Helens by Europeans was by George Vancouver on May 19, 1792, while they were surveying the northern Pacific Ocean. This ship was converted to a bomb vessel in 1799 and took part in the Battle of Copenhagen (1801).

★ HMS ''Discovery'', commanded by Captain George Nares, undertook the British Arctic Expedition, a voyage of exploration in the Eastern Arctic in 1875 to 1876.

★ HMCS Discovery is a unit of the Canadian Forces Naval Reserve based in Vancouver, British Columbia named after HMS Discovery commanded by Captain George Vancouver.
