HMS CORNWALLIS

At least two ships of the Royal Navy have been named 'HMS ''Cornwallis''', after Admiral Sir William Cornwallis.

★ ''Cornwallis'' was a 60 gun ship of the line, built in 1813. She was originally laid down as a 74-gunner, and broken up in 1857.

''Cornwallis'' was a pre-Dreadnought Duncan-class battleship. She was sunk in January 1917 by a German U-Boat.
