KONI CHALLENGE SERIES

(Redirected from Grand-Am Cup)
The 'KONI Challenge Series' (commonly known as 'Grand-Am Cup') is a touring car series run by the Grand American Road Racing Association. Originating from the Canadian 'Motorola Cup', the series was taken over by Grand-Am in 2001 to become the Grand-Am Cup. KONI became series sponsor for the start of the 2007 season.
The series rules have been altered over the years, but currently two are used: Grand Sport (GS) for large 6-cylinder or 8-cylinder rear-wheel drive sports cars and Street Tuner (ST) for smaller 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder rear or front-wheel drive compact sedans or coupes. Both classes may run in the same race, or it is a "split race".
The series is a popular support race for the larger Rolex Sports Car Series, also run by Grand-Am.
