'Gradisca d'Isonzo' (
Friulian: ''Gardiscje'',
Slovenian: ''Gradišče'') is a town of 6,600 inhabitants in the
province of Gorizia, in
Friuli-Venezia Giulia, north-eastern
Italy.
Although said to have been founded by the Venetians in the 15th century, the town name is a Slavic toponym, ''Gradišče'' being a
Slovenian term indicating a site where buildings have been constructed.
