producer. He was born in
South Bend, Indiana.
He began his career as
radio actor 'George Stenius' in
Detroit,
Michigan and is credited as being the first
actor to play
The Lone Ranger. He was nominated for the 1954
Academy Award for Directing for ''
The Country Girl'' and is perhaps most famous as the director and co-writer of ''
Miracle on 34th Street'' (
1947). He received
The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1961.
Seaton died of cancer in
Beverly Hills, California.
