'Genera' was an operating system and development environment for
Lisp machines developed by
Symbolics. It was essentially a
fork of an earlier operating system originating on the
MIT AI Lab's
Lisp machines which Symbolics had used in common with
LMI. The ~1.5 million lines of code that made up Genera are written in various
Lisp dialects, with a number of extensions (such as for
object-oriented programming) folded in.
Reportedly, there is a version running on 64Bit AMD/Intel under 64Bit Linux.
