'Gary "Big Daddy" Goodridge' (born
January 17,
1966) is a
Trinidad and Tobago born
kickboxer and a
mixed martial arts fighter, now residing in
Canada. He has fought matches in
K-1,
UFC, and
PRIDE.
He is also a professional
arm wrestler.
Biography
Goodridge made an immediate impression on MMA competition, winning his first two fights in
UFC 8 to reach the final against
Don Frye. His first fight, against Paul Herrera, is considered one of the most brutal knockouts in UFC history - the fight finished after Goodridge trapped both arms of Herrera and proceeded to deliver multiple elbows to the head, ending in 13 seconds. Although he would lose the fight against Frye, he would return again for
UFC 9 and
UFC 10. After his second loss to Don Frye in 1996 he would retire from UFC competition, and fight in many of the first
PRIDE competitions. He retired from PRIDE competition due to alleged personal issues, and moved to
K-1 Kickboxing events, as well as participating in the HEROs MMA promotion, where he still competes today.
Goodridge is also reported to have defeated 1000 challengers in one hour in arm wrestling matches at an exhibition in Japan.
