'Garden Valley' is a crossroads community about 9 miles west of Lindale.
Historically, prior to the formation of nearby town of Van (6 miles west of Garden Valley) in the late 1920s when oil was discovered there, Garden Valley was a town with a post office, stage coach station and a hotel. Today there is only one stop sign in the community's center with no businesses or public buildings.
Garden Valley is headquarters of several prominent Christian ministries Teen Mania, Mercy Ships, and the Central America Headquarters for Youth With A Mission.
