'The Gangreen Gang' are
fictional characters from the
animated series ''
The Powerpuff Girls'' and its
anime spin-off, ''
Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z''. They are a gang of teenage hooligans with green skin and disreputable look who mostly commit petty crime and misdemeanors. Its members are 'Ace', 'Little Arturo', 'Snake', 'Big Billy' and 'Grubber'. Ace, Little Arutro, Snake and Grubber have black hair while Big Billy has red hair.
In The Powerpuff Girls
The Gangreen Gang was featured in the opening sequence of Craig McCracken's original ''Whoopass Stew'' short, and were one of
the Powerpuff Girls' most frequent foes. In the episode "Power Lunch", the Gang acquired
superpowers after the girls' heat vision caused a chemical reaction with a great deal of
junk food the gang had just eaten. In another episode, "Slave the Day", Big Billy was saved by the girls, and decided to "change his ways" and join them, only to unfortunately make a mess of everything and eventually return to the Gang.
Members
The gang consists of five members, each having their own distinctive characteristics:
★ 'Ace' - The leader of the group, probably the smartest, who comes up with all of their plans. He has long, straight, greasy hair and a scraggly mustache. He wears sunglasses and a 70s-style quilted ski vest. Always wears shades and a colored vest to appear tougher than he is. His teeth resemble fangs. He sounds like your typical juvenile delinquent—mean and disrespectful. A coward by nature, he relies on the group to carry out his orders. His real name is revealed to be Ace D. Copular. In "Power Lunch", Ace's power is to make ice. Voiced by
Jeff Bennett.
★ 'Little Arturo'- The smallest and fastest of the group that looks as if he just jumped out of a Picasso painting, has straight hair swept forward over one eye (making him look very
emo-like) and sounds very much like
Senor Wences, he speaks with a Hispanic accent and is sadistic in nature. His real name is revealed to be Arturo de la Guerra. According to him, his most loved possessing is a
comb—named "Maria" and referred to as she—that belonged to his father just before he went to
prison, which the girls mistook for a
switchblade. A Mexican
stereotype. He is frequently thrown by other members of the Gangreen Gang. In "Power Lunch", Arturo's power is superspeed. Voiced by
Tom Kenny.
★ 'Snake' - As his name implies, he is very skinny and very snake-like, has a forked tongue, a long, sharply pointed nose and a cap turned backwards and hisses often when pronouncing the letter "s", so he tries to use words with "s" sounds in them as much as possible. In "School House Rocked", Snake's real name is revealed as Sanford D. Ingleberry. In "Power Lunch", Snake's power is flexibility. Voiced by
Tom Kenny.
★ 'Grubber' - He has protruding eyes, a hunchback, an enormous chin, ragged clothes, and a long tongue hanging out and speaks through blowing raspberries with his tongue, giving him the appearance of a
zombie and looks as if he has been living in a cave all his life. Also, because of his hunchback and the way he dresses, he looks like
Quasimodo from
The Hunchback of Notre Dame. His bulging eyes and oversized mouth are also reminiscent of the
Rat Fink cartoons by
Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. Oddly, he can speak normally (even articulately) and even has a talent of imitating other people's voices, as well as change his shape. His real name is revealed to be Grubber J. Gribberish. In "Power Lunch", Grubber's power is a supersonic burp. Voiced by
Jeff Bennett.
★ 'Big Billy' - The biggest and the dumbest of the group; he is fat and his personality is quite questionable at times. He has a shock of red hair covering the top half of his face to hide a single big blue eye. He is also a cyclops. As he speaks, it instantly becomes clear that he will never get into MIT. He can speak properly with having to say 'duuuh'. His real name is revealed to be William W. Williams. In "Power Lunch", Billy doesn't have any powers ''per se''. Instead, he turns into a
rock, and was thrown by other characters. Voiced by
Jeff Bennett.
Failed plans
★ Constant attempts at minor theft.
★ Defeating the Powerpuff Girls by fooling Buttercup, making her believe they were her friends.
★ Causing havoc with
prank phone calls, which ironically gets them beaten up severely, not by the Powerpuff Girls, but rather by
Mojo Jojo, Him, and Fuzzy Lumpkins.
Quotes

The Gangreen Gang in ''Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z''
The Gangreen Gang debuted in Episode 14, "Gangreen Gang! Part 1 and Part 2." Their intentions are relatively the same (in their premier episode, they attempted to get a free lunch by putting a model of a cockroach in their salad.) However, being monsters, they each have minor powers; Ace can throw cards, Snake can paralyze people with massage, Big Billy has great strength (but is easily outlifted by
Buttercup), Li'l Arturo has super speed (borrowed from "Power Lunch"), and Grubber can assume the appearance of others, though his skin remains green (a skill the American Grubber shared.) However, their own lack of intelligence and the relatively minor nature of their powers makes then no match even for Buttercup by herself. Under the leadership of Mojo in the episode "Monster Tag Battle", they, along with Fuzzy Lumpkins, actually prove themselves to be formidable opponents; however, infighting within the group (over whether Mojo, Fuzzy or Ace is the group's leader) eventually undermines their strategy and leads to their defeat.
