GAN (SEENU ATOLL)

'Gan' (Dhivehi: ގަން) is an island in Seenu Atoll, Maldives.
From 1957 to 1976, the island was the site of a staging post of the Royal Air Force, RAF Gan, populated only by male RAF personnel. The airstrip has been developed into what is now Gan International Airport. Gan Island has a hotel catering for tourists and is connected by causeways to the neighboring islands of Feydu, Maradu and Hithadhoo.
From Gan Island several rockets of the Kookaburra type were launched from a pad at 0°41' S and 73°9' E [1].
