'Gacko' (
Cyrillic: Гацко) is a town and municipality by the same name in southeastern
Republika Srpska,
Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is situated in the

Geography
The town is in a short distance from
Montenegro. The municipality covers an area of 736 km², making it one of the larger municipalities in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
According to the 1910 census, the absolute majority in the Gacko municipality were
Eastern Orthodox Christians (64.03%). But in the city itself
Muslims were the absolute majority.
Before the war, Gacko had a population of 10,844 people, out of which 62,4 % or 6,765 were Serbs, 35,3 % or 3,830 Muslims, 0,3 % or 29 Croats, 0,8 % or 84 Yugoslavs and 1,2 % or 136 Others.

Economy==
There is a thermoelectric powerplant in the municipality, which is the main employer. The
Czech power company ÄŒEZ intends to build a new power plant.
Sport
The local
football club,
FK Mladost Gacko, plays in the
First League of the Republika Srpska.
