The city was founded on
November 1,
1966.
Fuji is an industrial center in eastern Shizuoka prefecture. It is home to numerous paper factories with a total of 365 chimneys. Fuji is served by the
TÅkaidÅ Shinkansen at
Shin-Fuji station.
Festival
★ The Bishamonten festival is one of the three big daruma festivals in Japan.
★ The Yoshiwara Gion Festival is held on the second Saturday and Sunday of June.
★ The Karigane fastival is held at Kariganezutumi in the fall. This festival is to remember
★ flood victims. The main event is torch throwing. Torches are thrown into a high basket, which then burst into flames.
