'Fort Rock Cave' is a
cave near the
American landmark
Fort Rock in
Lake County, Oregon. The cave is famous for being the site where 9,000 - 10,000 year old sandals were found—the world's oldest footwear discovered so far.
Artifacts
The world's oldest footwear on record was discovered at Fort Rock Cave in 1938 by
Luther Cressman from the
University of Oregon.

sagebrush bark sandals have been
radiocarbon dated to approximately 9,000 - 10,000 years ago.
3[4] Several other prehistoric artifacts have been found at Fort Rock Cave, including basketry and stone and rock tools.
