FLAG OF THE VERMONT REPUBLIC

A unit of the Vermont National Guard display the Green Mountain Boys flag in the Republic of Macedonia.

The 'flag of the Vermont Republic' began as a regimental flag used by the Green Mountain Boys. With the ratification of the Constitution of Vermont at Elijah West's Windsor Tavern in 1777, the flag was adopted by the new Vermont Republic. The flag continued in use after Vermont was admitted to the United States, until 1804. Today the flag is used as the regimental flag of Vermont's national guard unit.
