FEDERAL TRIANGLE


There are several uses of the term:

★ A building complex in Washington, D.C. with a generally uniform style of architecture including orange Spanish tile roofs, devoted to many of the Civil Service functions of the United States Federal Government, and constructed in the 1930s.

★ The Federal Triangle Metro Station which serves this complex and the surrounding area.

★ The triangle formed by 15th Street, Constitution Avenue, and Pennsylvania Avenue, which includes such federal agencies as the Justice Department, Department of Commerce, the Internal Revenue Service and the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Trade Commission and National Archives, as well as the giant Ronald Reagan Building, Departmental Auditorium, Washington aquarium, and Old Post Office with clock tower.
