Far Eastern Federal District

The 'Far Eastern Federal District' (; tr.: ''Dalnevostochny federalny okrug'') is one of the seven federal districts of Russia. With a population of 6,692,865 in the 2002 census, it occupies an area of 6,215,900 km² (2,400,000 square miles), the largest Federal District in Russia. The current Presidential Envoy is Kamil Iskhakov.
The Far Eastern Federal District covers the territory of the Russian Far East and is subdivided into republics that enjoy a high degree of autonomy on most issues. Many of these correspond to some of Russia's ethnic minorities. These are:

3. Kamchatka Krai

4. Khabarovsk Krai

5. Magadan Oblast

6. Sakha Republic


7. Sakhalin Oblast

The major cities of the Far Eastern Federal District include Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Nikolayevsk-on-Amur, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
