 | Ham, Shortwave radio, antenna 160 meter receive loop. demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzyavTm-I_0 All of my antennas are fed with 75 ohm catv cable I have 15 antennas some are multibanders, some are home brewed. The loop is 3/4" catv self supporting 20' long tunned for 1.900 with 400pf + or - capacitors at center conductor and is center fed. The outer sheild of loop has a 2" cut out in shield at the 10' mark and both halfs are joined to the sheild to shield of coax. You must use a preamp. I use an mfj tuneable preamp but have found the preamps in my 756 work well also. These loops can be put an a rotor and used to null noise or find noise and signals. Thanks for looking.  | Hy-Gain Log Periodic Ham Radio Antenna Repaired In The Air http://www.hamradiofinds.com This was the scene recently at Dave's place W5SV, just north of Austin, Tx., where a Hy-Gain LP-1010 14 Element Log Periodic ham radio antenna was repaired while on top of a 70ft free standing tower, with the help of a crane..When the antenna was raised onto the tower,l one of the forward elements got tied up with the boom of the crane..No damage was done to the LP, though it caused the element to be out of alignment with the rest of the elements..We sent Tim KB5CFZ back up in a crane with a basket to repair problem..As you can see, he was raised just above the antenna & was able to lay on the floor of the basket, reach out to the antenna & perform the task of straightening the element..The antenna was rechecked & all is working fine.. The crew consisted of Craig KB5BI, the tower monkey is Tim KE5CFZ & myself, Mel WA5UTK (behind the camera)..Dave was somewhere in the background.. Thanks for viewing & reading..73s, Mel |
 | Hy_Gain 14 Element Ham Radio Log Periodic Antenna Raised onto 70ft tower http://www.hamradiofinds.com This was the scene recently at Dave's place W5SV, just north of Austin, Tx., where a Hy-Gain LP-1010 14 Element Log Periodic ham radio antenna was raised onto a 70ft free standing tower, with the help of a crane..There is a 5 element Cushcraft 6 meter beam above the lp..We had quite an interesting time with this project..All went fine until one of the forward elements got tied up with the boom of the crane..No damage was done to the LP, though you can see where it is now out of alignment with the rest of the elements..Will have to use a crane with a bucket to repair problem..After the installation was completed, coaxes & rotor hooked up, SWR checked fine on all bands from 30 to 6 meters..
