ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF CLARENCE
Location in New South Wales
'Clarence' is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is represented by Steve Cansdell of the National Party of Australia.
The 2004 redistribution of electoral districts estimated that the electoral district would have 48,074 electors on 29 April 2007.[1] At the 2007 election it will include all of the Clarence Valley Council (including Grafton, Maclean, Yamba, Illuka, Junction Hill, Ulmarra, Coutts Crossing and Glenreagh), almost all of the Richmond Valley Council (including Casino, Coraki, Woodburn, Evans Head and Tatham) and the far northern part of the City of Coffs Harbour (including Red Rock, Corindi and Corindi Beach).[2]

History
'Clarence' was created in 1859, replacing Clarence and Darling Downs. In 1920, with the introduction of proportional representation in 1920, it was absorbed in to Byron along with Lismore. In 1927, it was recreated.
