John Calvin in
1541.

Sacrament
An ordinance may also be used to describe the
commandment of
Jesus Christ, when he created the
sacrament of the
eucharist, as well as the sacrament of
baptism. Such an ordinance is generally accepted as a sacrament by both
Catholics and mainstream
Protestants.
