![]() | The Eastern ORTHODOX Church is the ONLY TRUE and Apostolic CHURCH. part 2 of 3 - American documentary: "The Ancient Church" How old is the ORTHODOX faith? If you are a Lutheran, your religion was founded by Martin Luther, an ex-monk of the Catholic Church, in the year 1517. If you belong to the Church of England, your religion was founded by King Henry VIII in the year 1534 because the Pope would not grant him a divorce with the right to re-marry. If you are a Presbyterian, your religion was founded by John Knox in Scotland in the year 1560. If you are a Congregationalist, your religion was originated by Robert Brown in Holland in 1582. If you are Protestant Episcopalian, your religion was an offshoot of the Church of England, founded by Samuel Senbury in the American colonies in the 17th century. If you are a Baptist, you owe the tenets of your religion to John Smyth, who launched it in Amsterdam in 1606. If you are of the Dutch Reformed Church, you recognize Michelis Jones as founder because he originated your religion in New York in 1628. If you are a Methodist, your religion was founded by John and Charles Wesley in England in 1774. If you are a Mormon (Latter Day Saints), Joseph Smith started your religion in Palmyra, New York, in 1829. If you worship with the Salvation Army, your sect began with William Booth in London in 1865. If you are Christian Scientist, you look to 1879 as the year in which your religion was born and to Mary Baker Eddy as its founder. If you belong to one of the religious organizations known as "Church of the Nazarene, Pentecostal Gospel," "Holiness Church," or "Jehovah's Witnesses," your religion is one of the hundreds of new sects founded by men within the past hundred years. If you are Roman Catholic, your church shared the same rich apostolic and doctrinal heritage as the Orthodox Church for the first thousand years of its history, since during the first millennium they were one and the same Church. Lamentably, in 1054, the Pope of Rome broke away from the other four Apostolic Patriarchates (which include Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch and Jerusalem), by tampering with the Original Creed of the Church, and considering himself to be infallible. Thus your church is 1,000 years old. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, _______________________________________ If you are ORTHODOX Christian, your religion was founded in the year 33 by Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It has not changed since that time. Our church is now almost 2,000 years old. And it is for this reason, that Orthodoxy, the Church of the Apostles and the Fathers is considered the true "one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church." This is the greatest legacy that we can pass on to the young people of the new millennium. _________________________________ ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I worship the One, Holy, Indivisible, Consubstantial, Life-Creating and Most Holy Trinity. In the Trinity I worship three persons -- three hypostases -- that of the Father, that of the Son and that of the Holy Spirit. I do not confuse the persons of the Most Holy Trinity. I do not believe that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are, as it were, three masks of a single person. None of the persons is alienated from the others, but each has the fulness of the Three together. Concerning Immortality I believe that only God is eternal and immortal by nature and in essence. The angels and the souls of men are immortal only because God bestows this immortality upon them by grace. If if were not for the immortality which God bestows by His divine will, neither the angels nor the souls of men would be immortal of themselves. Men's souls have no pre-existence. The how of the soul's birth, as well as separation from the body at the moment of the latter's biological death that it might be reunited to the body when the dead are raised at the Second and glorious Coming of our Saviour is a mystery which has not been revealed to us. http://www.orthodoxphotos.com/ . |

![]() | Greek Orthodox and Armenian of Jerusalem http://cdbaby.com/cd/vanarmenya Greek Orthodox and Armenian of Jerusalem. "JERUSALEM: Within These Walls." Shown on PBS many times. It is from the late 1980's or so--NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC SOCIETY--available in most American Public Libraries--especially big city libraries, for "borrowing." It will be on VHS, not DVD, I think. How IRONIC that CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER, the star of ARARAT the movie, is the narrator here. In ARARAT he was trying to find out about the ARARAT movie since his son was dating the Turk of the movie, and here, he states, clearly, what occured in the GENOCIDE of the Armenians, Greeks and Assyrian Christians. 25 to 50 million Christians in 1000A.D., reduced to just 5 million by the late 1890's, (but still 2/3 of Constantinople!) became the targets of massacre after massacre. Armenians died, 2 million out of three million, (1893 to 1923) or 1.5 million out of about 2.3 million (1914-1923). Over 5 million Christians were deported, over 3 milion to nearly 4 million died or were converted to ISLAM or simply "disappeared." Later, in the 1980's Turkish demographic distortion experts tried to pass of the "missing people" as Muslims. This video more than adequately illustrates the GENOCIDAL nature of the Armenian, Greek and Assyrian Holocaust. Only 300,000 "Ottoman" soldiers officially died in WW1, (look it up!) and most of them were actually unfortunate Armenian males forced to conscript in 1914 -- liquidated by 1915 if they did not die in the front lines! |
