Happy New year 3745 (zartoshti). نوروزتان پیروز
Tuesday, March 20, 2008 Norooz of year 3745 (Zartoshti) year 2567 (shahanshahi) year 1387 (khorshidi) (("" Khojasteh Baad "")). Norooz (Nowruz, Nevruz, Newruz, Navruz) in Persian means "New [-year]-day". It is the beginning of the year for the peoples of Iran (Greater Iran, including: Afghanistan, Arran (Republic of Azerbaijan) and Central Asian Republics). It begins precisely with the beginning of spring on vernal equinox, on or about March 21. Tradition takes Norooz as far back as 15,000 years--before the last ice age. King Jamshid (Yima or Yama of the Indo-Iranian lore) symbolizes the transition of the Indo-Iranians from animal hunting to animal husbandry and a more settled life in human history. Seasons played a vital part then. Everything depended on the four seasons. After a sever winter, the beginning of spring was a great occasion with mother nature rising up in a green robe of colorful flowers and the cattle delivering their young. It was the dawn of abundance. Jamshid is said to be the person who introduced Norooz celebrations. Avestan and later scriptures show that Zarathushtra improved, as early as 1725 BCE., the old Indo-Iranian calendar. The prevailing calendar was luni-solar. The lunar year is of 354 days. An intercalation of one month after every thirty months kept the calendar almost in line with the seasons. Zarathushtra, the Founder of the Good Religion, himself an astronomer, founded an observatory and he reformed the calendar by introducing an eleven-day intercalary period to make it into a luni-solar year of 365 days, 5 hours and a fraction. Later the year was made solely a solar year with each month of thirty days. An intercalation of five days was, and a further addition of one day every four years, was introduced to make the year 365 days, 5 hours, and a fraction. Still later, the calendar was further corrected to be a purely solar year of 365 days 5 hr 48 min 45.5 sec. The year began precisely with the vernal equinox every time and therefore, there was no particular need of adding one day every four years and there was no need of a leap year. This was [and still is] the best and most correct calendar produced that far.
Uzbek Beauty
Beauty of the Uzbek culture and people. Branch of the Altaic family: Turkic The Uzbeks (Self designation sg. O'zbek, pl. O'zbeklar) are a Turkic people of Central Asia. They comprise the majority population of Uzbekistan, and large populations can also be found in Afghanistan, Tajikstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Russia and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. Smaller diaspora populations of Uzbeks from Central Asia are also found in Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, North America, and Western Europe. The origin of the name Uzbek remains disputed. One view holds that it is eponymously named after Uzbeg Khan, although the nomadic Uzbeks were never entirely subject to him[citation needed]. An etymological argument states that the name means independent or the lord itself, from O'z (self) and Bek (a noble title of leadership). Contemporary indigenous sources usually used the term Uzbek to refer to uncultured individuals, especially nomads and rural peasants. Although Altaic infiltration into Central Asia had started early, as late as the 13th century AD when Turkic-speaking and Mongol armies finally conquered the entire region, the majority of Central Asia's peoples were Iranic peoples such as Sogdians, Bactrians and, more ancient, the Saka--Massagetae tribes. It is generally believed that these ancient Indo-European-speaking peoples were linguistically assimilated by smaller but dominant Turkic-speaking groups while the sedentary population finally adopted the Persian language, the traditional lingua franca of the eastern Islamic lands. The language-shift from Middle Iranian to Turkic and New Persian was predominantly the result of an elite dominance process. This process was dramatically boosted during the Mongol conquest when millions were either killed or pushed further south to the Pamir region. The modern Uzbek language is largely derived from the Chagatai language, an Eastern Turkic language which gained prominence in the Mongol Timurid Empire. The position of Chagatai (and later Uzbek) was further strengthened after the fall of the highly Persianized Timurids and the rise of the Shaybanid Uzbek Khaqanate that finally shaped the Turkic language and identity of modern Uzbeks, while the unique grammatical[17] and phonetical features of the Uzbek language as well as the modern Uzbek culture reflect the more ancient Iranic roots of the Uzbek people. Transition from Aristotelian physics to ..1/12 NEW ED
Transition from Aristotelian phys. to the modern phys. _1/12 Abstract: "The transition from Aristotelian physics to the modern physics" is the title of an article presented by Prof. Dr. Yousef Sobouti (em.) to the Iranian Physics Conferences (held 5-8/Shahrivar 1386, 27-30 August 2007, Yasoudj-Iran) and Iranian Mathematical Conference (held at 12-15/Shahrivar 1386, 3-6 September 2007, Zanjan-Iran). Without any doubt Prof. Sobouti is one of the most experienced and engaged astrophysicists of Iran. He was a Ph.D.-student of Subramanian Chandrasekar the famous Indian-American astrophysicists who was the Nobel Prize winner of the year 1983 for his profound theoretical works on stars. Prof. Sobouti himself has got many national and international awards for his contribution to the development of physics and astrophysics in Iran. Philosophically, however, it seems that he is a "positivist" of the early type of 19. and 20th. Century who thinks that Aql (Reason, ger.: die Vernunft) and the ability of reasoning is a product of Analysis and Synthesis by its very special definition through physical experiments. In the following speeches I present my point of view on this matter. I hope that these will be of use to the great young Iranian natural scientists not only to extend their abilities and knowledge toward understanding the mater and surviving in this crazy world but also to sharpen their minds to avoid the mistakes of the western scientists of the last centuries! The language of this video is Persian / FARSI. I hope one day to be able to give a German and English translation of that. The video tapes are in 3 parts: 1) The article of Prof. Sobouti (in a new presentation). 2) A short introductory discussion in two sub-parts (b and c) prepared for Youtube. 3) A comprehensive speech part prepared for Google/Video. I hope these talks will be of use to a change of our consciousness toward a better and a deepened understanding of our times as responsible human beings. www.Davan-Vorlesungen.de Behrouz Mehri Davan Germany Philosophy.
