![]() | ET: The Extra Terrestrial (Atari 2600) To show you how complex and frustrating this game isn't, I play ET for the Atari 2600. This is on the easy skill level which means no FBI agent or scientist. This is not my best or quickest playthrough. However all the recordings I did prior to this were of poor quality in some way so I stuck with this one. I honestly can't see why people think this is such a terrible game. TIPS: - Always look for the Find Phone zones (represented by a question mark symbol). There is one on each screen and it will show the location of a phone piece if there is one and will make your life easier. - Always collect candy (the dark dots). You can call Elliott and swap them for bonus points, but you can also eat them to replenish health. If you call Elliott when you have 9 pieces, he will not only take them off you for bonus points, but will give you a piece of the phone and chase off enemies. - If the FBI agent is troublesome, try finding the locations of the three phone pieces, the landing site and the phone home zone first. Then collect all three pieces (or get one from Elliott), phone home and get to the landing site. The FBI agent is completely harmless if you have no phone pieces, and once you know where everything is, evading him shouldn't be difficult. - The scientist can also be a problem, but he can also be useful. If you want to get from part of the map to another and the scientist is nearby, hitch a ride. You won't lose health when you're with him and the FBI agent won't come after you. - Keep an eye out for "Send Back" zones (a symbol that looks like III). These will repel enemies. - Look for a flower in one well. If you make it grow, you will be granted an extra respawn in the next round (Elliott can normally only revive you three times). - Finally, get the hang of pressing "fire" as soon as you fall into a well so you can levitate out before you hit the ground and save valuable health points. |

![]() | The Wells: How close can we get? (E.T. for Atari 2600) http://www.randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-et.html Visit the link above for E.T. manual scans, map, tips and more. Some people complain that you cannot get close to the wells in E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial for the Atari 2600 without falling in, so I made this simple video of E.T. moving around some of the wells to show just how close E.T. can get. All this video shows is how close you can get to the wells without falling in. It does not reflect actual gameplay. I knew if I didn't have E.T. walk around at least one well on each site, some people would complain or try to say it couldn't be done on every screen, so here it is. E.T. walks around at least one well on each site and if watching 6 minutes of E.T. walking around the wells is too boring, you don't have to watch the whole video. You can skip ahead. This video was created using a real Atari 2600. VOB file from DVD converted and cropped with MPEG Streamclip. Edited with Windows Movie Maker. You might also want to know that I used an RF switchbox when I recorded this. That's why you see those wavy pattens. I just bought an Atari 2600 with S-Video modification, so my future videos should be nice and clear. I won't redo this video so you can compare moving images of both types (RF switchbox and S-Video). |
![]() | E.T. Atari 2600 Review A short, sweet, to the point review. This is my 4th E.T. video, so if there is something I have not said, I don't know what it is. This review isn't too detailed (I'm working on that part!) but it does give you an idea of the basic gameplay and what to do. This review is honest and fair...something E.T. doesn't seem to get anymore |
