'Duque de Caxias' is a city in southeast
Brazil in
Rio de Janeiro. Its population was 842,890 (
2005) and its area is 465 km².

The city is the second richest in the State of Rio de Janeiro. It has important industries such as oil refinery and chemical. It have got the name of the patron of the Brazilian Army, who was born there in 1803, Luís Alves de Lima e Silva, the Duke of Caxias.
