Montage Video Podcast 0605
Official Montage Website: http://www.montagefilmreviews.com/0605.html LOOKS AT THE SHORT FILM: "Lady Like" (B&W, 6 min) Two women, one a daring exhibitionist, and the other a devout Muslim initially see each other as the antithesis of a proper woman. But when one must save the other from a peeping tom, they learn there is not only common ground between them, but fertile ground to build a friendship. & THE FEATURE LENGTH DOCUMENTARY: From York to Palestine (C/ B&W 76mins) Produced by Rolling Snowballs Films, this feature length documentary follows the efforts of PSC (Palestine Solidarity Group) activist Heather Stroud as she tries to right the consequential problems of the injustices of the former British Empire in the Middle East. Director Chris Brooke writes: "I don't think that I ever appreciated the political sensitivity of the subject I was tackling until February 2004 when I travelled to London for a seminar chaired by the politicians and journalists about the situation in Palestine. Dr. Jenny Tonge, then a front bench MP for the Liberal Democrats (UK), spoke candidly about a recent visit she had made to the region and expressed compassion for the conditions which caused people to think that the only way they can effect change is to strap explosives to their bodies. She was sacked by her party for her comments the next day." DVD's of the film are available for 10UKP directly from Rolling Snowballs Films.
