'Dr. G.W. Williams Secondary School' is one of five high schools in
Aurora, Ontario and is one of two under the jurisdiction of the
York Region District School Board. In 2005, there were approximately 1350 students from Grades 9 to 12.
History
The school started in
1888 as Aurora High School in the building now occupied by the Aurora Museum on Church Street. The current building on Dunning Avenue was opened in
1952. Additions were placed on the Dunning Avenue school in 1954, 1958, 1967, and 1998. In
1961 the school was renamed Dr. G. W. Williams Secondary School in honour of Dr. David Garnet Wolsley Williams, a local medical doctor and former trustee of the school board. The school's chief rival is
Aurora High School.
Williams has a number of athletic teams, from football to curling, as well as active intramural clubs.
The school is now being slated for demolition by the YRDSB and is to be rebuilt either on the current site, or on Bayview Ave. by 2010. Staff, students, parents and local residents are currently debating whether moving Williams is a good idea. A
website has been started in support of retaining the current location.

Football Program
The Wildcats football program has been going on since 1946 and has a proud history . The program it self is not very strong due to the lack of
support from the school it self as well as the student body and Student Council.
