'Dowra' () is a small village in northwest
County Cavan,
Ireland. The part of the village which is located in
County Leitrim is know as Kilmore. It is the first village on the
river Shannon. Close by is the river source of the River Shannon, known as the
Shannon Pot. The Cavan Way starts in the village. The Leitrim Way also passes through the village.
The village was formed in the late 1800s after another village close by, Tober, was washed away by land slides.
The remains of the Black Pigs Dyke can be seen outside the village.
The town's main industry is agriculture, and there is a livestock mart held there every Saturday. In total Dowra has 5 pubs and 4 shops. The nucleus of the village is situated in the Cavan side. The village church is located approximately 2 miles outside and is called the church of the immaculate conception, Doobally.
