For much of its history the miniature castle has been neglected. The ruins are now hidden behind trees and access is 'very difficult'. ![]() | Jetman delayed for English Channel Flight A Swiss pilot's attempt to become the first person to fly solo across the English Channel using a single jet-propelled wing has been delayed. Yves Rossy attempt at the 22-mile (35.4 km) flight from Calais to Dover was postponed because of bad weather. The former military pilot plans to attempt the crossing on Friday, which he hopes to complete in 12 minutes. The 49-year-old will fly on a plane to more than 8,200ft (2,500m), ignite jets on a wing on his back, and jump out. Mr Rossy, who has had to postpone another previous attempt because of weather conditions, hopes to reach speeds of 125mph. Daredevil Swiss pilot to risk life and limb in bid to fly from France to England using a single, jet-propelled wing on his back. Yves Rossy is hoping to become the first person in history to fly the English Channel using his special wing. Tracing the same route as French aviator Louis Bleriot who was the first to fly the Channel 99 years ago, Rossy will leap from an airborne plane and fire up his jet-propelled wing. With the extra weight of mounted cameras and the unpredictable weather of the English Channel Rossy will face his biggest challenge to date. |
