DIVERS/CITé

'Divers/Cité' is a festival of LGBT culture in Montreal.
The name is a French language play on words, between "diverse cité" (diverse city) and "diversité" (diversity).
Up to 2006, Divers/Cité included Montreal's pride parade; however, following disputes in 2006 and 2007, the pride parade and community day have been spun off, and was run in 2007 by a new group called Célébrations LGBTA.
The Divers/Cité has been a very large event; in 2002, organizers estimated it drew 1.4 million people (compare with Montreal's official population of 1.8 million), with the Pride parade drawing a crowd of 600,000 (see [1], although these numbers are disputed).
The current managing director of Divers/Cité is Ian Abinakle.
In 2006, Divers/Cite coincided with the 2006 World Outgames in Montreal.
