 | Retreat Looking for sponsors for the three-year-retreats 2008 - 2011 in Dhagpo Kundrol Ling Dhagpo Kundreul Ling is situated in the countryside of Auvergne, central France. It is made up of several retreat centers and two monastic-hermitages, located in Le Bost and Laussedat. There, the three-year-retreats take place, in which the teaching of the Buddha is transmitted, studied and practised intensivley. In each cycle of retreats there are about 100 men and women, divided into 8 groups of around 15 people. Lama Gendune Rinpoche, a highly realized meditation master, was sent to Europe by the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, following requests by Western dharma students. Gendune Rinpoche selflessly taught and transmitted the Dharma for the benefit of all beings. From 1984 until his death in 1997, he was leading the retreats. Now, under the spiritual direction of the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje, the retreatants are supervised by guides appointed by Lama Gendune. The Gyalwa Karmapa, together with the retreat guides, adapted the program of the traditional three-year-retreat to the needs of western students. For the first time it includes a foundation retreat where basic dharma practices are deepened through study and practise. The new retreat program consists for example of preliminary practises (ngondro) the seven point mind training (lojong) and the meditation of calm abiding (shine), insight (lhaktong) and mahamudra. The retreat is one of many ways to develop compassion and wisdom in order to genuinely help others. The deep wish to bring forth these qualities is the driving force behind this retreat. A group of international dharma practicioners are preparing for the next retreat which begins on May 2008. To make retreats possible, the costs of food, lodging and additional expenses must be covered. Therefore every month 380 Euro are required for each participant. Some persons are still looking for sponsors to support them. This can be done by regular monthly donations or by a single donation. Thus there is created a spiritual bond between the retreatant and everyone who supports them. It is our sincere wish that this bond benefit both of us on the path to awakening.
