Deformation-based Animation of Snake Locomotion
generation is presented in this paper. Instead of relying on conventional physically based simulation or tedious key-framing, a novel deformation-based approach is utilized to create realistic looking snake motion patterns. Simple sinusoidal, winding, and bending functions constitute the deformation. The combination of various types of deformation becomes a powerful tool for describing the characteristic motions of a typical snake. As an example, three basic deformations and their combinations are utilized and various locomotive animations are generated with a high degree of realism. The proposed method provides an easy-to-use, fast, and interactive mechanism for an animator with little experience. The method is versatile in that it also works in conjunction with the creative input of an experienced animator for the improvement of the overall quality of the animation.
Abaqus : Analysis of an automotive boot seal
Abaqus videos: Boot seals are used to protect constant velocity joints and steering mechanisms in automobiles. In this example the deformation of the boot seal, caused by a typical angular movement of the shaft, is studied using Abaqus. It provides a demonstration and verification of the finite-sliding capability in three-dimensional deformable-to-deformable contact and self-contact in Abaqus. This problem also demonstrates how to model a hyperelastic material using the UMAT user subroutine. Thanks for watching American Engineering Group, Akron, Ohio www.engineering-group.com
Completely Automatic Capsule Filling Machine : DigInfo
http://movie.diginfo.tv DigInfo News Qualicaps, a manufacturer of two-piece capsules and capsule manufacturing equipment for the pharmaceutical and dietary supplement industries, have developed the JCF-40, which can fill capsules with powders that have a wide range of properties. The Auger system, which uses a rotating screw shaped mechanism keeps the filling material in continuous motion, allowing for smooth and accurate filling. The machine works by using three rollers to process the cap and body capsules in the hopper, with the caps transferred to the cap disc and the body transferred to the body disc, ready for filling. The powder the gets inserted into the body which is then lifted and bonded with the cap. The bonded capsules are then ejected from the machine. The process restricts defective capsules from entering the filling process as well as eliminating processing problems such as deformation, abrasion, and peeling.
