'Dalhousie' is a city and a
municipal council in
Chamba district in the state of
Himachal Pradesh,
India.
History
Established in
1854 by the
Honourable East India Company as a summer retreat for its troops and bureaucrats, the town was named after
Lord Dalhousie who was the
Governor-General of India at that time.
Dalhousie is built on and around five hills. It is located on the western edge of the Dhauladhar mountain range of the Himalayas.
